Location‐Assisted Graph‐Based User Scheduling in Multi‐User MIMO LEO NTN Systems

open access: yesInternational Journal of Satellite Communications and Networking, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper addresses user clustering and scheduling for multi‐user MIMO low Earth orbit nonterrestrial network systems in full frequency reuse. Since the number of on‐ground user terminals is usually much higher than the number of on‐board LEO satellite antennas, user scheduling becomes a fundamental task.

The use of singlebeam echo‐sounder depth data to produce demersal fish distribution models that are comparable to models produced using multibeam echo‐sounder depth

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, 2021
Seafloor characteristics can help in the prediction of fish distribution, which is required for fisheries and conservation management. Despite this, only 5%–10% of the world's seafloor has been mapped at high resolution, as it is a time‐consuming and ...

Performing a Sonar Acceptance Test of the Kongsberg EM712 Using Open-Source Software: A Case Study of Kluster

open access: yesGeomatics, 2022
In the world of seafloor mapping, the ability to explore and experiment with a dataset in its raw and processed forms is critical. Kluster is an open-source multibeam data processing software package written in Python that enables this exploration ...

The International Bathymetric Chart of the Arctic Ocean (IBCAO) Version 3.0 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
[1] The International Bathymetric Chart of the Arctic Ocean (IBCAO) released its first gridded bathymetric compilation in 1999. The IBCAO bathymetric portrayals have since supported a wide range of Arctic science activities, for example, by providing ...

Dynamic Resource Allocation for LEO Satellite Systems Under Heterogeneous Traffic Distributions

open access: yesInternational Journal of Satellite Communications and Networking, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper proposes an efficient resource allocation scheme for low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite systems. Taking into account the unique characteristics of LEO systems for 6G communication services, we introduce a dynamic bandwidth and power allocation scheme specifically designed to accommodate highly heterogeneous traffic distributions.

Acoustic evidence of hydrocarbon release associated with the Spitsbergen Transform Fault, north of the Molloy Ridge, Fram Strait

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science
Hydrocarbon gases formed from biotic and abiotic processes are released through the seafloor at different locations around the world. They have been widely observed directly in video and photo data, and indirectly on echosounder data.

Digital Twin‐Based Optimization of Service Availability in LEO Mega Constellations Considering Handover Delays in Open RAN

open access: yesInternational Journal of Satellite Communications and Networking, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT As non‐terrestrial networks (NTNs) become integral to future 6G systems, ensuring seamless connectivity and service continuity over low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite constellations is essential. This work investigates the impact of open radio access network (RAN) functional splits on handover performance in NTNs, focusing on minimizing service ...

Protocols for calibrating multibeam sonar

open access: yesThe Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2005
Development of protocols for calibrating multibeam sonar by means of the standard-target method is documented. Particular systems used in the development work included three that provide the water-column signals, namely the SIMRAD SM2000/90- and 200-kHz sonars and RESON SeaBat 8101 sonar, with operating frequency of 240 kHz.
