Based on the hot compression experiment of GH4169 superalloy, the constitutive equation and the microstructure evolution model of GH4169 superalloy were established, and they were introduced into the Deform® simulation software to realize the simulation of the microstructure evolution of GH4169 superalloy in closed multidirectional forging, single ...

Investigation of the required clamping force at multidirectional undercut-forging
Production Engineering, 2018A hot forging process allows to produce parts of excellent quality and technical properties. Nevertheless, it is not possible to forge undercut geometries like piston pin bores, it is usually necessary to manufacture them in subsequent processes. Thus, an undercut-forging process was newly developed.

Condition of Carbides in High-Speed Steels after Multidirectional Forging
Defect and Diffusion Forum, 2019Although heat treatment of high-speed steels has been covered in numerous treatises, their microstructure before treatment still receives insufficient attention. This article therefore explores the relationship between the initial microstructure and resultant properties in heat treated steels for cutting tools and sonotrodes (special tools for ...

Grain Refinement in a Low Carbon Steel Through Multidirectional Forging
Journal of Iron and Steel Research International, 2012Grain refinement is one of the successful and low-cost methods to develop metals having excellent combination of strength and ductility. Low carbon steel was deformed by using multidirectional forging (MDF) technique at room temperature. The influence of strain amount and annealing process on the microstructure and mechanical properties of investigated

Fine-Grained Structure Formation in 7475 Al Alloy during Hot Multidirectional Forging
Materials Science Forum, 2006Effect of strain rate on grain refinement was studied in multidirectional forging (MDF) of a coarse-grained 7475 Al alloy at 490oC under strain rates of 3 × 10-4 s-1 and 3 × 10-2 s-1. At a strain rate of 3 × 10-4 s-1, the stress – strain ( σ - ε) behavior shows significant work softening just after yielding and a steady-state flow at higher strains ...

Abstract A particulate reinforced magnesium matrix composite fabricated by stir casting was subjected to multidirectional forging (MDF) at a temperature of 420 °C. The results showed that grains of matrix in the composite were significantly refined after 1 MDF pass, and gradually refined till 3 MDF passes.
