Inhibitors of Multidrug Resistance (MDR) Have Affinity for MDR Substrates

open access: yesBioorganic and Medicinal Chemistry Letters, 2004
Multidrug-resistance (MDR) occurs in many bacterial species and tumour cells. MDR functions by membrane proteins which export drugs from cells, resulting in a low ineffective concentration of the drug. We have shown by molecular modelling that inhibitors of MDR have affinity for substrates of MDR transporters.

Inhibitors of Multidrug Resistance to Antitumor Agents (MDR)

Current Medicinal Chemistry, 2002
Multidrug resistance is one of the main obstacles in the chemotherapy of cancer. Its inhibition by combination of chemosensitizers with antitumor compounds is a very active field of research, since safe and potent reversal agents would be beneficial for clinical use. Most modulators act by binding to membrane transport proteins (specially P-gp and MRP)

Multidrug resistance (MDR) genes in haematological malignancies

Cytotechnology, 1993
The emergence of drug resistant cells is one of the main obstacles for successful chemotherapeutic treatment of haematological malignancies. Most patients initially respond to chemotherapy at the time of first clinical admission, but often relapse and become refractory to further treatment not only to the drugs used in the first treatment but also to a

Multidrug Resistance: Physiological Principles and Nanomedical Solutions [PDF]

open access: yesAdvanced Drug Delivery Reviews, 2013
Multidrug resistance (MDR) is a pathophysiological phenomenon employed by cancer cells which limits the prolonged and effective use of chemotherapeutic agents.

Multidrug-Resistant Tuberculosis (MDR-TB)

2018
...................... The patient lived with her husband, her three children, and a very old mother-in-law. The patient was the first child of 2 siblings with a history of spontaneous birth and was assisted by a birth attendant with cry spontaneously. Her mother-in-law had the same history of the disease, i.e., the first category of pulmonary TB.

Insight on Multidrug Resistance and Nanomedicine Approaches to Overcome MDR

Critical Reviews™ in Therapeutic Drug Carrier Systems, 2020
Multidrug resistance (MDR) remains a major obstacle to ensure effective chemotherapy in cancer patients. Several factors could be associated with cancer cells' drug resistance such as overexpression of P-glycoprotein (P-gp), cancer stem cells (CSCs), defect in apoptosis, mutation and alteration in DNA repair pathways, angiogenesis, autophagy, and ...
