Decomposition Complexes [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2013
We introduce decomposition complexes of posets, which generalize order complexes. The main advantage of our construction is that decomposition complexes are closed under taking products. Other special instances of this theory include nested set complexes as well as Bergman complexes.

Complex Intersection Bodies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We introduce complex intersection bodies and show that their properties and applications are similar to those of their real counterparts. In particular, we generalize Busemann's theorem to the complex case by proving that complex intersection bodies of symmetric complex convex bodies are also convex.

Engineering Electron Transfer Processes in Oxidoreductases: Applications in Biocatalysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
As the demand for cost-efficient and environmentally friendly processes increases in the chemical industry, impact of biocatalysis, which is the utilization of enzymes and whole microorganisms for production of fine chemicals, has become more predominant.

The analysis of metabolite channelling in multienzyme complexes and multifunctional proteins [PDF]

open access: yesBiochemical Journal, 1989
Multienzyme complexes and multifunctional proteins may confer a kinetic advantage by channelling reaction intermediates between consecutive enzymes and reducing the transient time for the establishment of steady states. A general means for quantitatively assessing the contribution of channelling to the reduction of pool size and transient time is ...

Comparative Analysis of the Physicochemical Properties of Kafirin‐Enriched Proteins Extracted From Various Grain Sorghums and Their Distillers' Grains

open access: yesSustainable Food Proteins, Volume 3, Issue 2, June 2025.
Sorghum is a globally significant cereal crop that is a potential source of innovative plant proteins. Kafirin is the primary storage protein in grain sorghum. In this study, we conducted a comparative analysis of the physicochemical and functional properties of kafirin proteins extracted using the glacial acetic acid method from different types of ...

Coexistence of Wolbachia with Buchnera aphidicola and a secondary symbiont in the aphid Cinara cedri.

open access: yes, 2004
Intracellular symbiosis is very common in the insect world. For the aphid Cinara cedri, we have identified by electron microscopy three symbiotic bacteria that can be characterized by their different sizes, morphologies, and electrodensities.

Direct Quantification of Protein–Protein Interactions in Living Bacterial Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 19, May 22, 2025.
Quantitative measurement of protein–protein interactions in living cells is vital for biotechnology applications. Fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) signals in bacterial cells are often weak, leading to false‐positive. Quantitative FRET measurements are implemented to overcome the weak FRET signal.

Matching trees for simplicial complexes and homotopy type of devoid complexes of graphs [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2015
We generalize some homotopy calculation techniques such as splittings and matching trees that are introduced for the computations in the case of the independence complexes of graphs to arbitrary simplicial complexes, and exemplify their efficiency on some simplicial complexes, the devoid complexes of graphs, which are simplicial complexes parametrized ...
