Direct Quantification of Protein–Protein Interactions in Living Bacterial Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 19, May 22, 2025.
Quantitative measurement of protein–protein interactions in living cells is vital for biotechnology applications. Fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) signals in bacterial cells are often weak, leading to false‐positive. Quantitative FRET measurements are implemented to overcome the weak FRET signal.

Secretomic analyses of Ruminiclostridium papyrosolvens reveal its enzymatic basis for lignocellulose degradation

open access: yesBiotechnology for Biofuels, 2019
Background Efficient biotechnological conversion of lignocellulosic biomass to valuable products, such as transportation biofuels, is ecologically attractive, yet requires substantially improved mechanistic understanding and optimization to become ...

Matching trees for simplicial complexes and homotopy type of devoid complexes of graphs [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2015
We generalize some homotopy calculation techniques such as splittings and matching trees that are introduced for the computations in the case of the independence complexes of graphs to arbitrary simplicial complexes, and exemplify their efficiency on some simplicial complexes, the devoid complexes of graphs, which are simplicial complexes parametrized ...

Structure and conformational dynamics of fatty acid synthases [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Multistep reactions rely on substrate channeling between active sites. Carrier protein-based enzyme systems constitute the most versatile class of shuttling systems due to their capability of linking multiple catalytic centers.

The Effect of Germination on Antinutritional Components, In Vitro Starch and Protein Digestibility, Content, and Bioaccessibility of Phenolics and Antioxidants of Some Pulses

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 13, Issue 5, May 2025.
Germination reduced phytic acid (7.03%–75.65%) and trypsin inhibitor activity (4.72%–39.20%), while its effects on tannins and saponins varied. It generally improved in vitro protein digestibility except in peas and increased TDS while decreasing resistant starch, except in chickpeas.

Hepatic Form of Dihydrolipoamide Dehydrogenase Deficiency (DLDD): Phenotypic Spectrum, Laboratory Findings, and Therapeutic Approaches in 52 Patients

open access: yesJournal of Inherited Metabolic Disease, Volume 48, Issue 3, May 2025.
ABSTRACT Dihydrolipoamide dehydrogenase deficiency (MIM 246900/DLDD) is an autosomal recessive mitochondrial disease with three clinical subgroups. The hepatic form leads to recurrent metabolic decompensations often accompanied by elevated levels of liver transaminases (ELT) in blood, sometimes progressing to acute liver failure (ALF).

Deconstruction of Lignocellulose into Soluble Sugars by Native and Designer Cellulosomes

open access: yesmBio, 2012
Lignocellulosic biomass, the most abundant polymer on Earth, is typically composed of three major constituents: cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin. The crystallinity of cellulose, hydrophobicity of lignin, and encapsulation of cellulose by the lignin ...

Complexes of trees and nested set complexes [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2004
We exhibit an identity of abstract simplicial complexes between the well-studied complex of trees and the reduced minimal nested set complex of the partition lattice. We conclude that the order complex of the partition lattice can be obtained from the complex of trees by a sequence of stellar subdivisions.

Semaglutide‐induced weight loss improves mitochondrial energy efficiency in skeletal muscle

open access: yesObesity, Volume 33, Issue 5, Page 974-985, May 2025.
Abstract Objective Glucagon‐like peptide‐1 receptor agonists (e.g., semaglutide) potently induce weight loss, thereby reducing obesity‐related complications. However, weight regain occurs when treatment is discontinued. An increase in skeletal muscle oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS) efficiency upon diet‐mediated weight loss has been described, which ...

Adaptor Scaffoldins: An Original Strategy for Extended Designer Cellulosomes, Inspired from Nature

open access: yesmBio, 2016
Designer cellulosomes consist of chimeric cohesin-bearing scaffoldins for the controlled incorporation of recombinant dockerin-containing enzymes. The largest designer cellulosome reported to date is a chimeric scaffoldin that contains 6 cohesins.
