Control of coherent backscattering by breaking optical reciprocity [PDF]
Reciprocity is a universal principle that has a profound impact on many areas of physics. A fundamental phenomenon in condensed-matter physics, optical physics and acoustics, arising from reciprocity, is the constructive interference of quantum or ...

A Composite Recognition Method Based on Multimode Mutual Attention Fusion Network
To address the problem of single-mode vulnerability to complex environments, a multimode fusion network with mutual attention is proposed. This network combines the use of laser, infrared and millimeter wave modalities to leverage the advantages of each ...

Ghost Interference with Optical Parametric Amplifier
The 'Ghost' interference experiment is analyzed when the source of entangled photons is a multimode Optical Parametric Amplifier(OPA) whose weak limit is the two-photon Spontaneous Parametric Downconversion(SPDC) beam.

Ultracompact, low-loss directional couplers on InP based on self-imaging by multimode interference [PDF]
We report extremely compact (494-µm-long 3 dB splitters, including input/output bends), polarization-insensitive, zero-gap directional couplers on InP with a highly multimode interference region that are based on the self-imaging effect.

Universal linear optics by programmable multimode interference
We introduce a constructive algorithm for universal linear electromagnetic transformations between the N input and N output modes of a dielectric slab. The approach uses out-of-plane phase modulation programmed down to N2 degrees of freedom. The total area of these modulators equals that of the entire slab: our scheme makes optimal use of the available

Controlling multimode optomechanical interactions via interference
We demonstrate optomechanical interference in a multimode system, in which an optical mode couples to two mechanical modes. A phase-dependent excitation-coupling approach is developed, which enables the observation of constructive and destructive optomechanical interferences.

On-chip silicon photonic controllable 2 × 2 four-mode waveguide switch
Multimode optical switch is a key component of mode division multiplexing in modern high-speed optical signal processing. In this paper, we introduce for the first time a novel 2 × 2 multimode switch design and demonstrate in the proof-of-concept.

Integration of a multimode interference coupler with a corrugated sidewall Bragg grating in planar polymer waveguides [PDF]
We demonstrate the integration of a 3-dB multimode interference coupler with a corrugated sidewall Bragg grating in planar polymer waveguides by direct electron beam writing.
