Nonlinear equalization for Rician multipath fading channel
2003 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 2003. Proceedings. (ICASSP '03)., 2004We present a nonlinear equalization scheme for a Rician multipath fading channel - a fuzzy logic-based approach. We show that each channel state of a multipath Rician channel follows a Gaussian distribution, which means a Bayesian equalization can be implemented.

Modulation classification in fading multipath channel
Conference Record of the Thirty-Sixth Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems and Computers, 2002., 2003A system for modulation classification in a dispersive communication channel is developed. The channel equalizer and symbol rate are blindly estimated from data. The features used for recognition include cumulants and moments computed from a polar coordinate representation of the IQ-plane.

Multipath fading of on-body propagation channels
2008 IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society International Symposium, 2008It was shown that multipath fading of an on-body channel can be characterized by a Rician distribution. The parameters of the Rican distribution for two on-body channels were extracted and their behavior during walking movement in an office and in an anechoic chamber was analyzed.

Capacity of Nakagami multipath fading channels
1997 IEEE 47th Vehicular Technology Conference. Technology in Motion, 2002We study the capacity of Nakagami multipath fading (NMF) channels with an average power constraint for three power and rate adaptation policies. We obtain closed-form solutions for NMF channel capacity (with and without diversity) for each power and rate adaptation strategy, and compare them with the additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel ...

Receiver structures for fading multipath channels
Proceedings of IEEE Pacific Rim Conference on Communications Computers and Signal Processing, 2002A model for a fading multipath channel based on an inhomogeneous Poisson process for the multipath delays is introduced. This model is well structured and quite flexible for characterization of mobile and indoor radio environments. A Bayesian decision approach is employed for the derivation of the optimal receiver for this channel model with additive ...

On channel estimation for RAKE receiver in a mobile multipath fading channel
Proceedings of ICASSP '94. IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing, 2002Multipath fading is one of the major practical concerns in wireless communications. Multipath problem always exists in the mobile environment, especially for a mobile unit which is often embedded in its surroundings. The RAKE receiver has been used to reduce the multipath fading in a wideband spread spectrum mobile system.

Performance of orthogonal multi-carrier CDMA in a multipath fading channel
1994 IEEE GLOBECOM. Communications: The Global Bridge, 1996A DS-CDMA multi-carrier system is proposed. The transmitted data bits are serial to parallel converted to a number of parallel branches. Each bit on each branch is DS-SS modulated and transmitted with a number of orthogonal and overlapping carriers. Given that sufficient interleaving is provided, this procedure provides many advantages.

On the number of pilots for OFDM system in multipath fading channels
2004 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 2004The orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) system has been demonstrated to be effective in a frequency selective multipath fading environment. To compensate the deleterious effects of the fading channels, pilot symbol assisted modulation (PSAM) technique has been used to obtain the channel estimate.

A single-FPGA multipath MIMO fading channel simulator
2008 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems (ISCAS), 2008We present an accurate model for compact implementations of Rayleigh and Rician fading channels. Verification of the proposed fading simulator is performed by comparing the simulated statistics with those of the ideal reference models. A parameterizable field-programmable gate array (FPGA) implementation of the channel simulator is presented.

Robust detection in asynchronous CDMA multipath fading channels
1999 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing. Proceedings. ICASSP99 (Cat. No.99CH36258), 1999This paper presents a robust detection approach in the presence of transmission delay estimation errors in asynchronous CDMA frequency selective Rayleigh fading channels. The transmission delays in asynchronous channels need to be estimated in practice and are subject to estimation errors, which may cause severe performance degradation for most ...
