Reprogrammable Hydroplastic Latex Films and Water‐Driven Phase Separation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Hydroplastic latex films with discontinuous hydrophobic phases surrounded by continuous hydrophilic phases, are prepared. Upon immersion in water, the latex films have water‐driven phase separation. ABSTRACT Thermoplastics are a class of plastic polymers that can be remolded repeatedly by heating and cooling.

Predetermination of Currents and Field in Short-Circuit Voltage Operation for an Axial-Flux Permanent Magnet Machine [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Risk of irreversible magnet demagnetization during short-circuit fault is analyzed in case of an axial-flux dual-rotor machine, using a three-dimensional finite-element method (3D-FEM).

A Simple Braking Method for Six-phase Induction Motor Drives with Unidirectional Power Flow in the Base-speed Region [PDF]

open access: yes
Induction motor drives supplied from diode front-end rectifiers are commonly used in industrial applications due to their low cost and reliability. However, the two-quadrant operation of such a topology makes the regenerative braking impossible.

Electrochemical Nitrate Reduction Reaction to Ammonia at Industrial‐Level Current Densities

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This review starts from the mechanism and theoretical basis of electrochemical nitrate reduction reaction (NO3−RR), and systematically summarizes and discusses the design strategies of industrial‐level current density catalysts. In addition, the progress of industrial‐level NO3−RR‐based electrolyzers, including flow reactor and membrane electrode ...

Conventional Space-Vector Modulation Techniques versus the Single-Phase Modulator for Multilevel Converters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Space-vector modulation is a well-suited technique to be applied to multilevel converters and is an important research focus in the last 25 years. Recently, a single-phase multilevel modulator has been introduced showing its conceptual simplicity and

Polymorphic Superparaelectric Engineering Boosting Energy Storage Capacity in BaTiO3‐Based Ceramics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Herein, Ca2+ incorporation promotes the coexistence of CaTiO3‐/BaTiO3‐derived paraferroelectric states, stabilizing cubic‐orthorhombic‐tetragonal polymorphic superparaelectric phases. This minimizes polarization energy barriers, facilitating full polarization saturation without compromising efficiency.

Fault-Tolerant Operation of Six-Phase Energy Conversion Systems With Parallel Machine-Side Converters [PDF]

open access: yes
The fault tolerance provided by multiphase machines is one of the most attractive features for industry applications where a high degree of reliability is required. Aiming to take advantage of such postfault operating capability, some newly designed full-

Unraveling Hydride‐Driven Multiphasic Reduction Toward Tunable Germanium Structures for Lithium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The sodium hydride (NaH)‐mediated reduction of germanium dioxide yields distinct Ge structures depending on the amount of reductant, revealing the dual roles of NaH in the reduction pathways. The synthesized Ge under off‐stoichiometric conditions exhibits a porous morphology and reduced crystallinity, which effectively mitigates volume expansion during

Integrated electrical and mechanical modelling of integrated-full-electric-propulsion systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Integrated Full Electric Propulsion (IFEP) systems are the subject of much interest at present. Current research is focused on analysing and improving aspects of subsystem and system performance. However, there is a great need to look more widely at the `

Concentration-adjustable micromixer using droplet injection into a microchannel

open access: yes, 2018
A novel micromixing technique that exploit a thrust of droplets into the mixing interface is developed. The technique enhances the mixing by injecting immiscible droplets in a mixing channel and the methodology enables a control of the mixing level ...
