In order to calculate phase stator harmonic leakage inductances of a multiphase induction motor under open-circuit fault, an analysis method is introduced to determine relationships between phase windings and coils. Firstly, the harmonic leakage inductance between two coils is calculated by subtracting the fundamental inductance from the total ...

A Comparative Study of PWM Techniques for Multiphase Induction Motor Drives
International Journal of Emerging Electric Power Systems, 2018Abstract This paper deals with the performance analysis of different PWM techniques for three-phase and dual three-phase induction motors. In this paper, the dual three-phase induction motor is reconnected as a three-phase and six-phase winding configurations and its performances are investigated.

Current control issues in rotor flux oriented multiphase induction motor drives
2008 18th International Conference on Electrical Machines, 2008Rotor flux oriented control of multiphase induction machines with sinusoidal MMF distribution can theoretically be realized by using only two current controllers in the synchronous reference frame. In practice however this is inadequate, as shown in the paper using experimental results collected from a five-phase induction motor rig.

Performance Enhancement of Electric Vehicles using Vector Controlled Multiphase Induction Motor
2018 IEEE International Conference on Power Electronics, Drives and Energy Systems (PEDES), 2018This paper presents the performance enhancement of an Electric vehicle on implementing Indirect Field Oriented Controlled (IFOC) Five-Phase Induction Motor Drive as its propulsion unit using MATLAB/SIMULINK. Engagement of multiphase induction motor in place of three-phase induction motor significantly improves the motor drive performance in terms of ...

Advanced fault-tolerant control of multiphase induction motor drives in EV
2019 1st International Conference on Sustainable Renewable Energy Systems and Applications (ICSRESA), 2019In this paper, an Advanced fault-tolerant control technique for Five-Phase Induction Motor under Open-End Winding (FPIM-OEW) in electric vehicle (EV) is presented. The proposed control is able to run the control system before and after speed-sensor fault condition. Hence, the FPIM-OEW losses are decreased, which improves the overall machine efficiency.

Application and perspectives of multiphase induction motors
2012The article considers the areas of applying multiphase induction motors. Their advantages against three phase motors have become the main reason for employing them in multiphase drives. The paper deals with the six-phase induction motor having two similar three phase windings in the stator shifted by 30 degrees in space and three phase windings in the ...

DTC Principles in Multilevel and Multiphase Induction Motor Drives
2013Direct Torque Control (DTC) is considered particularly interesting for the absence of coordinate transformations, current regulators and PWM signal generators. In spite of its simplicity, DTC allows a good torque control in steady state and transient operating conditions to be obtained.
