Multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2B
2008Multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2 (MEN 2) is a distinct hereditary syndrome that has an autosomal pattern of inheritance (OMIM 2005). There have been 500-1000 MEN 2 kindreds reported in the literature. The MEN 2 syndrome consists of three variants: MEN 2A, MEN 2B and familial medullary thyroid cancer (Table 1).

Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia Type 2B
2016Clinical characteristics Multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2 (MEN 2) includes the following phenotypes: MEN 2A, FMTC (familial medullary thyroid carcinoma, which may be a variant of MEN 2A), and MEN 2B. All three phenotypes involve high risk for development of medullary carcinoma of the thyroid (MTC); MEN 2A and MEN 2B involve an increased risk for ...

Laryngeal neuroma in multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2B
Auris Nasus Larynx, 2014Multiple endocrine neoplasia (MEN) type 2 syndrome is an autosomal dominant inherited disease caused by mutations of the RET proto-oncogene, and is clinically divided into three phenotypes: MEN2A, MEN2B, and familial medullary thyroid carcinoma. Although multiple mucosal neuromas are commonly observed in patients with MEN2B, there are only a few ...

Ocular manifestations in multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2b
American Journal of Ophthalmology, 1998To describe the clinical and laboratory findings in a patient with multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2b.Case report. An 8-year-old boy underwent ophthalmic examination, genetic evaluation, total thyroidectomy, and biopsy of a tongue nodule.Ocular features, including previously unreported iris changes, and their probable origin are discussed.

Ocular Histopathology in Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia Type 2b
American Journal of Ophthalmology, 1981Multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2b is a syndrome, often familial, characterized by medullary carcinoma of the thyroid gland, pheochromocytoma, and many mucosal neuromas in patients who frequently have a marfanoid habitus. The ophthalmic findings are distinctive and include conjunctival and eyelid neuromas, keratoconjunctivitis sicca, and, most ...

Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia, Type 2B
2005Multiple endocrine neoplasia, type 2b, is a disorder of unknown etiology with major involvement of the thyroid and adrenal glands, the autonomic nervous system, and connective tissue. It is transmissible with an autosomal dominant pattern of inheritance, but since most cases are not familial, they presumably represent mutations.

Multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2B: More than an endocrine disorder
Surgery, 1995Multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2B (MEN 2B) is a rare disorder differentiated from MEN 2A primarily by its extraendocrine features. This report describes the clinical spectrum and outcome of MEN 2B.Twenty-one patients underwent operation for manifestations of MEN 2B between 1970 and 1993. Median follow-up was 16.9 years.

Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia Type 2B and Hirschsprung’s Disease
Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology, 2005Multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2B and Hirschsprung's disease are genetic disorders characterized by gross and/or microscopic pathology of the enteric nervous system and associated dysmotility. A specific missense mutation in the RET proto-oncogene is the etiology of multiple endocrine neoplasia type B, in contrast to very complex multigenetic ...

Early diagnosis and thyroidectomy in multiple endocrine neoplasia, type 2b
The Journal of Pediatrics, 1983Medullary thyroid carcinoma is a feature of multiple endocrine neoplasia, type 2b (MEN 2b). The cancer frequently gives rise to metastases in early life and is therefore often incurable by age 4 years. Because MEN 2b frequently appears as a spontaneous mutation, and because the characteristic phenotypic features are absent in the early life of most ...
