The Role of Gamma-Delta T Cells in Diseases of the Central Nervous System

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2020
Gamma-delta (γδ) T cells are a subset of T cells that promote the inflammatory responses of lymphoid and myeloid lineages, and are especially vital to the initial inflammatory and immune responses.

Cis‐regulatory and long noncoding RNA alterations in breast cancer – current insights, biomarker utility, and the critical need for functional validation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The noncoding region of the genome plays a key role in regulating gene expression, and mutations within these regions are capable of altering it. Researchers have identified multiple functional noncoding mutations associated with increased cancer risk in the genome of breast cancer patients.

Multiple sine, multiple elliptic gamma functions and rational cones

open access: yes, 2014
We define generalizations of the multiple elliptic gamma functions and the multiple sine functions, labelled by rational cones in $\mathbb{R}^r$. For $r=2,3$ we prove that the generalized multiple elliptic gamma functions enjoy a modular property determined by the cone.

Strength through diversity: how cancers thrive when clones cooperate

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Intratumor heterogeneity can offer direct benefits to the tumor through cooperation between different clones. In this review, Kuiken et al. discuss existing evidence for clonal cooperativity to identify overarching principles, and highlight how novel technological developments could address remaining open questions.

Potential therapeutic targeting of BKCa channels in glioblastoma treatment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review summarizes current insights into the role of BKCa and mitoBKCa channels in glioblastoma biology, their potential classification as oncochannels, and the emerging pharmacological strategies targeting these channels, emphasizing the translational challenges in developing BKCa‐directed therapies for glioblastoma treatment.

Quantifying network properties in multi-electrode recordings: Spatiotemporal characterization and inter-trial variation of evoked gamma oscillations in mouse somatosensory cortex in vitro

open access: yesFrontiers in Computational Neuroscience, 2013
Linking the structural connectivity of brain circuits to their cooperative dynamics and emergent functions is a central aim of neuroscience research. Graph theory has recently been applied to study the structure-function relationship of networks, where ...

Generalized Hölder's Theorem for Vignéras' Multiple Gamma Function

open access: yesTokyo Journal of Mathematics, 2001
The multiple gamma function is defined by \[ G_r(z+1)= G_{r-1}(z) G_r(z),\;G_r(1)=1,\;{d^{r+1} \over dz^{r+1}} \log G_r(z+1)\geq 0 \] for \(z\geq 0,\;G_0(z)=z.\) The gamma function is therefore \(\Gamma(z)= G_1(z)\). Hölder proved that the gamma function does not satisfy any algebraic differential equation over the rational field \(\mathbb{C}(z)\).
