Paraxial propagation of a quantum charge in a random magnetic field

open access: yes, 2000
The paraxial (parabolic) theory of a near forward scattering of a quantum charged particle by a static magnetic field is presented. From the paraxial solution to the Aharonov-Bohm scattering problem the transverse transfered momentum (the Lorentz force ...

Various methods of integrability of cubic differential systems with real invariant lines of multiplicity eight

open access: yesŞtiință și educație: noi abordări și perspective: Materialele conferinţei ştiinţifice internaţionale, Seria 25. Volumul 3 : Ştiinţe umanistice şi arte, Ştiinţe exacte şi ale naturii, 2023
In this article, we study cubic planar differential systems with affine real invariant straight lines of total multiplicity eight. For these differential systems (there are 24 differential systems) the integrability problem is solved by various methods: the Darboux method, the direct method and the computational method.

The problem of the center for cubic differential systems with two affine non-parallel invariant straight lines of total multiplicity three

open access: yesActa et Commentationes: Ştiinţe Exacte şi ale Naturii
In this paper, we show that a center-focus critical point of cubic differential systems with two affine non-parallel invariant straight lines of total multiplicity three is a center type if and only if the first five Lyapunov quantities vanish.

An In Depth Study into Using EMI Signatures for Appliance Identification

open access: yes, 2014
Energy conservation is a key factor towards long term energy sustainability. Real-time end user energy feedback, using disaggregated electric load composition, can play a pivotal role in motivating consumers towards energy conservation. Recent works have

Characterizing steady states of genome-scale metabolic networks in continuous cell cultures

open access: yes, 2017
We present a model for continuous cell culture coupling intra-cellular metabolism to extracellular variables describing the state of the bioreactor, taking into account the growth capacity of the cell and the impact of toxic byproduct accumulation.

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Light propagation in linearly perturbed $\Lambda$LTB models

open access: yes, 2017
We apply a generic formalism of light propagation to linearly perturbed spherically symmetric dust models including a cosmological constant. For a comoving observer on the central worldline, we derive the equation of geodesic deviation and perform a ...
