Exploring the diversity of Ralstonia solanacearum strains from mainland France using a novel multiple loci VNTR analysis scheme [PDF]

open access: diamondApplied and Environmental Microbiology
The Ralstonia solanacearum species complex (RSSC), one of the most damaging pests worldwide, includes species Ralstonia solanacearum, Ralstonia pseudosolanacearum, and Ralstonia syzygii. Since 1990, R.

Molecular characterization of Verocytotoxigenic Escherichia coli O157:H7 isolates from Argentina by Multiple-Loci VNTR Analysis (MLVA). [PDF]

open access: greenBrazilian Journal of Microbiology, 2009
The aim of this work was to adapt described MLVA protocols to the molecular typing and characterization of VTEC O157:H7 isolates from Argentina. Nine VNTR loci were amplified by PCR showing diversity values from 0.49 to 0.73. Nine MLVA profiles were observed and the cluster analysis indicated both unrelated and closely related VTEC O157:H7 strains.

Discriminatory Ability of Hypervariable Variable Number Tandem Repeat Loci in Population-based Analysis of Mycobacterium tuberculosis Strains, London, UK [PDF]

open access: yesEmerging Infectious Diseases, 2009
To address conflicting results about the stability of variable number tandem repeat (VNTR) loci and their value in prospective molecular epidemiology of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, we conducted a large prospective population-based analysis of all M ...

Detection of Mycobacterium tuberculosis multiple strains in sputum samples from patients with pulmonary tuberculosis in south western Uganda using MIRU-VNTR

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
Infections with multiple strains of Mycobacterium tuberculosis are now widely recognized as a common occurrence. Identification of patients infected with multiple strains provides both insight into the disease dynamics and the epidemiology of ...

Multiple-locus variable-number tandem-repeat analysis of mycoplasma pneumoniae clinical specimens and proposal for amendment of MLVA nomenclature. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
Mycoplasma pneumoniae is one of the major respiratory bacterial pathogens that cause pneumonia in humans. Multiple-locus variable-number tandem-repeat analysis (MLVA) is currently the most discriminative method for typing M. pneumoniae strains. To better
