Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

A data-driven optimization approach for automated reviewer assignment using natural language processing

open access: yesIntelligent Systems with Applications
In many settings, such as project or publication selection, expert reviewers play a pivotal role, as their assessments serve as the primary basis for determining a project's prospective value. The effectiveness of matching and assigning qualified experts

Interdependence in fuzzy multiple objective programming [PDF]

open access: yesFuzzy Sets and Systems, 1994
Abstract In multiple objective programs [MOP], application functions are establised to measure the degree of fulfillment of the decision maker's requirements (achievement of goals, nearness to an ideal point, satisfaction, etc.) about the objective functions (see e.g., Delgado et al., 1990; Zimmermann, 1978) and are extensively used in the process of

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

On the simplex, interior-point and objective space approaches to multiobjective linear programming

open access: yesJournal of Algorithms & Computational Technology, 2021
Most Multiple Objective Linear Programming (MOLP) algorithms working in the decision variable space, are based on the simplex algorithm or interior-point method of Linear Programming.

Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).

Dual targeting of RET and SRC synergizes in RET fusion‐positive cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Despite the strong activity of selective RET tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), resistance of RET fusion‐positive (RET+) lung cancer and thyroid cancer frequently occurs and is mainly driven by RET‐independent bypass mechanisms. Son et al. show that SRC TKIs significantly inhibit PAK and AKT survival signaling and enhance the efficacy of RET TKIs in ...

Eliminating congestion of decision-making units using inverse data envelopment analysis [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Mahani Mathematical Research
This survey proposes a new application of the inverse data envelopment analysis (InvDEA) in the problem of merging decision-making units (DMUs) to improve the performance of DMUs by removing congestion.

Detection of circulating tumor DNA in colorectal cancer patients using a methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed a cost‐effective methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex assay containing tissue‐conserved and tumor‐specific methylation markers. The assay can detect circulating tumor DNA with high accuracy in patients with localized and metastatic colorectal cancer.

Using Multiple Objective Programming in a Dairy Cow Breeding Program

open access: yesJournal of Dairy Science, 2001
Multiple-objective programming was used to examine the effects various objectives had on the optimal portfolio of sires chosen for a given breeding problem in a Jersey cow dairy herd. It was assumed that the dairy producer had the following three objectives in the breeding decision: to maximize Net Merit, to minimize inbreeding, and to minimize total ...
