Entropy of Entropy: Measurement of Dynamical Complexity for Biological Systems

open access: yesEntropy, 2017
Healthy systems exhibit complex dynamics on the changing of information embedded in physiologic signals on multiple time scales that can be quantified by employing multiscale entropy (MSE) analysis.

AscF in the mycobacterial CIII–CIV supercomplex lacks metal and nucleotide binding but links malate oxidation to respiration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The mycobacterial CIII‐CIV respiratory supercomplex is an obligate assembly, encompassing several subunits of unknown functions. We have characterized the intracellular subunit AscF, and show that it is unlikely to be a sensor for metals or nucleotides, but is required for growth on nonfermentable energy sources, and likely works as an adapter for ...

AMDCnet: attention-gate-based multi-scale decomposition and collaboration network for long-term time series forecasting

open access: yesFrontiers in Artificial Intelligence
IntroductionTime series analysis plays a critical role in various applications, including sensor data monitoring, weather forecasting, economic predictions, and network traffic management. While traditional methods primarily focus on modeling time series

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

State of Health Estimation for Lithium-ion Batteries Based on Fusion of Autoregressive Moving Average Model and Elman Neural Network

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
This paper proposes a fusion model based on the autoregressive moving average (ARMA) model and Elman neural network (NN) to achieve accurate prediction for the state of health (SOH) of lithium-ion batteries.

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Continuous Timescale Long-Short Term Memory Neural Network for Human Intent Understanding

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurorobotics, 2017
Understanding of human intention by observing a series of human actions has been a challenging task. In order to do so, we need to analyze longer sequences of human actions related with intentions and extract the context from the dynamic features.

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

Multi-Source PM2.5 Prediction Model Based on Fusion of Graph Attention Networks and Multiple Time Periods

open access: yesIEEE Access
Aiming at the problem that the traditional time series prediction model only considers a single node (region), does not take into account the spatial interactivity among multiple nodes and the cycle characteristics embedded in the time series data, and ...
