A time-parallel multiple-shooting method for large-scale quantum optimal control

open access: yesJournal of Computational Physics
Quantum optimal control plays a crucial role in quantum computing by providing the interface between compiler and hardware. Solving the optimal control problem is particularly challenging for multi-qubit gates, due to the exponential growth in ...

The Floating Random Walk Method With Symmetric Multiple-Shooting Walks for Capacitance Extraction

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Computer-Aided Design of Integrated Circuits and Systems
A key factor affecting the computational time of floating random walk (FRW)-based capacitance extraction is the variance of underlying Monte Carlo (MC) sample of capacitance.

Modified Multiple Shooting Combined with Collocation Method in JModelica.org with Symbolic Calculations [PDF]

open access: yesLinköping Electronic Conference Proceedings, 2014
This paper presents an efficient and a novel implementation of a combined multiple shooting and collocation (CMSC) algorithm for the solution of nonlinear optimal control problems. The implemented algorithm is a modification of the approach proposed in [17, 18].

A Unified Perspective on Multiple Shooting In Differential Dynamic Programming [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE/RJS International Conference on Intelligent RObots and Systems, 2023
Differential Dynamic Programming (DDP) is an efficient computational tool for solving nonlinear optimal control problems. It was originally designed as a single shooting method and thus is sensitive to the initial guess supplied.

GPU-Accelerated Target Strength Prediction Based on Multiresolution Shooting and Bouncing Ray Method

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
The application of the traditional planar acoustics method is limited due to the low accuracy when computing the echo characteristics of underwater targets. Based on the concept of the shooting and bouncing ray which considers multiple reflections on the

A Direct Optimization Algorithm for Problems with Differential-Algebraic Constraints: Application to Heat and Mass Transfer

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
In this article, an optimization task with nonlinear differential-algebraic equations (DAEs) is considered. As a main result, a new solution procedure is designed. The computational procedure represents the sequential optimization approach.

Direct multiple shooting and direct collocation perform similarly in biomechanical predictive simulations [PDF]

open access: yesComputer Methods in Applied Mechanics and Engineering, 2023
Direct multiple shooting (DMS) and direct collocation (DC) are two common transcription methods for solving optimal control problems (OCP) in biomechanics and robotics. They have rarely been compared in terms of solution and speed.

ON THE MULTIPLE SHOOTING CONTINUATION OF PERIODIC ORBITS BY NEWTON–KRYLOV METHODS [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Bifurcation and Chaos, 2010
The application of the multiple shooting method to the continuation of periodic orbits in large-scale dissipative systems is analyzed. A preconditioner for the linear systems which appear in the application of Newton's method is presented. It is based on the knowledge of invariant subspaces of the Jacobians at nearby solutions.
