Growing Multiplex Networks [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2013
We propose a modeling framework for growing multiplexes where a node can belong to different networks. We define new measures for multiplexes and we identify a number of relevant ingredients for modeling their evolution such as the coupling between the different layers and the arrival time distribution of nodes.

LPGRI: A Global Relevance-Based Link Prediction Approach for Multiplex Networks

open access: yesMathematics, 2023
The individuals of real-world networks participate in various types of connections, each forming a layer in multiplex networks. Link prediction is an important problem in multiplex network analysis owing to its wide range of practical applications, such ...

Layer Communities in Multiplex Networks [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Statistical Physics, 2017
Multiplex networks are a type of multilayer network in which entities are connected to each other via multiple types of connections. We propose a method, based on computing pairwise similarities between layers and then doing community detection, for grouping structurally similar layers in multiplex networks.

On limitations of uniplex networks for modeling multiplex contagion.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2023
Many network contagion processes are inherently multiplex in nature, yet are often reduced to processes on uniplex networks in analytic practice. We therefore examine how data modeling choices can affect the predictions of contagion processes.

Percolation in multiplex networks with overlap [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2013
From transportation networks to complex infrastructures, and to social and communication networks, a large variety of systems can be described in terms of multiplexes formed by a set of nodes interacting through different networks (layers). Multiplexes may display an increased fragility with respect to the single layers that constitute them.

Emergence of Chimera in Multiplex Network [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Bifurcation and Chaos, 2016
Chimera is a relatively new emerging phenomenon where coexistence of synchronous and asynchronous states is observed in symmetrically coupled dynamical units. We report the observation of the chimera state in multiplex networks where individual layer is represented by 1-d lattice with nonlocal interactions. While, multiplexing does not change the type

Levy random walks on multiplex networks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Random walks constitute a fundamental mechanism for many dynamics taking place on complex networks. Besides, as a more realistic description of our society, multiplex networks have been receiving a growing interest, as well as the dynamical processes ...

Multiplex and multilevel networks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Multiplex and Multilayer Networks is a collection of some of the results obtained in the new field of complex networks theory with respect to multilevel, multiplex, and interacting networks. The ever-increasing availability of data in fields ranging from
