In this paper, we introduce multivariate Goppa codes, which contain as a special case the well-known, classical Goppa codes. We provide a parity check matrix for a multivariate Goppa code in terms of a tensor product of generalized Reed-Solomon codes. We prove that multivariate Goppa codes are subfield subcodes of augmented Cartesian codes.

The Broad Reach of Multivariable Thinking
Simple explanations are very often inadequate and can encourage faulty inferences. We examined college students’ explanations regarding illegal immigration to determine the prevalence of single-factor explanations. The form of students’ explanations was

On Multivariate Interpolation [PDF]
A new approach to interpolation theory for functions of several variables is proposed. We develop a multivariate divided difference calculus based on the theory of noncommutative quasi‐determinants. In addition, intriguing explicit formulae that connect the classical finite difference interpolation coefficients for univariate curves with multivariate ...

Abstract The bivariate classical fidelity is a widely used measure of the similarity of two probability distributions. There exist a few extensions of the notion of the bivariate classical fidelity to more than two probability distributions; herein we call these extensions multivariate classical fidelities, with some examples being the ...

Multivariate topology simplification [PDF]
Topological simplification of scalar and vector fields is well-established as an effective method for analysing and visualising complex data sets. For multi-field data, topological analysis requires simultaneous advances both mathematically and computationally.

Multivariate Regression Depth [PDF]
The regression depth of a hyperplane with respect to a set of n points in R^d is the minimum number of points the hyperplane must pass through in a rotation to vertical. We generalize hyperplane regression depth to k-flats for any k between 0 and d-1. The k=0 case gives the classical notion of center points.
