Depth-Based Multiview Distributed Video Coding

IEEE Transactions on Multimedia, 2014
Multiview distributed video coding (DVC) has gained much attention in the last few years because of its potential in avoiding communication between cameras without decreasing the coding performance. However, the current results are not matching the expectations mainly due to the fact that some assumptions of the theory are not satisfied in the current ...

Learning-based multiview video coding

2009 Picture Coding Symposium, 2009
In the past decade, machine learning techniques have made great progress. Inspired by the recent advancement on semi-supervised learning techniques, we propose a novel learning-based multiview video compression framework. Our scheme can efficiently compress the multiview video represented by multiview-video-plus-depth (MVD) format. We model the ...

Research on Multiview Video Coding

2012 International Conference on Computer Science and Electronics Engineering, 2012
Multiview Video Coding (MVC) is an extension of the Advanced Video Coding (AVC) standard that provides efficient coding of such multiview video. This paper describes the main concepts of multiview video coding (MVC). Firstly, the architecture evolutional history of MVC is introduced.

Multiview video and depth coding

2012 Picture Coding Symposium, 2012
In this paper we propose a method to encode/decode multiview textures and associated depth maps together in a single bitstream. Encoded bits of depth maps have been merged into that of associated textures in an innovative way with very minimal loss in PSNR of textures, 0.1–0.2 dB for high delay and 0.2–1 dB for low delay applications.

Fast encoding techniques for Multiview Video Coding

Signal Processing: Image Communication, 2013
Multiview Video Coding (MVC) is a technique that permits efficient compression of multiview video. MVC uses variable block size motion and disparity estimation for block matching. This requires an exhaustive search process that involves all possible macro-block partition sizes.

Joint multiview video plus depth coding

2010 IEEE International Conference on Image Processing, 2010
Multiview video plus depth (MVD), where per-pixel depth map sequences are associated with multiview texture video, is a promising approach for three-dimensional (3D) video solutions requiring view synthesis. The Multiview Video Coding (MVC) standard has been typically used to compress the MVD representation, resulting into the multiview texture video ...

Flexible Complexity Optimization in Multiview Video Coding

IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems for Video Technology, 2021
Flexible optimization on video coding computational complexity is imperative to adapt to diverse terminals in video streaming, especially with high definition videos and increasingly comprehensive encoders. Until now, few efforts have been contributed to the encoder of multiview videos, which complicates its encoding structure with duplex frame display.

Low-complexity asymmetric multiview video coding

2008 IEEE International Conference on Multimedia and Expo, 2008
Multiview video coding (MVC) is currently under development by the Joint Video Team (JVT) as an extension to Advanced Video Coding (H264/AVC). Based on the suppression theory in binocular vision, the fidelity of one of the two views of a stereoscopic display can be reduced without noticeable degradation of subjective quality.

Fully scalable multiview wavelet video coding

2009 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems, 2009
This paper presents a 2-D pipeline-based locally adaptive inter-view-temporal lifting scheme for scalable multi-view video coding. Instead of global temporal and inter-view correlation analysis based on the whole picture, the proposed method adopts locally adaptive inter-view-temporal correlation analysis based on the macroblocks. In addition, in order

Scalable Multiview Video Coding Using Wavelet

2005 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems, 2005
In this paper, we propose a multiview video coding (MVC) scheme based on wavelets which can provide temporal, spatial, SNR as well as view scalabilities. To the best of our knowledge, wavelets have not been used for MVC in the literature before. In particular, we consider a multiview video as a 2D matrix with 1D along the temporal axis, 1D along the ...
