Image stitch-based multiview video coding

SPIE Proceedings, 2007
In general, it is necessary for Multi-view Video Coding (MVC) methods to compress multi-view videos efficiently and have a property of view-scalability in order to decode arbitrary views according to any viewer's interests. Much research has been done on MVC methods, with the goal of increasing coding efficiency. Although these previous methods have

Multiview Video Coding Using Video Game Context Information

2012 IEEE International Conference on Multimedia and Expo Workshops, 2012
Remote rendering of video games for 3DTV becomes a hot topic with the emergence of 3D-enabled mobile devices and cloud-based services. It is however a very challenging task that requires live encoding at very low latency for user interactivity as well as optimal encoding decisions for an acceptable QoE.

Scalable multiview video coding for immersive video streaming systems

2016 Visual Communications and Image Processing (VCIP), 2016
Immersive video places the user inside the video scene, allowing the user to control the direction of the view. To achieve this, the view of every direction must be recorded using either a panoramic camera or multiple cameras placed at different positions with different angels.

Single-loop decoding for multiview video coding

2008 IEEE International Conference on Multimedia and Expo, 2008
Multiview video coding (MVC) is currently being standardized by the Joint Video Team as an extension of H264/AVC. When an MVC bitstream is decoded, some views (named target views) are to be displayed; some other views (named dependent views) may not be displayed but are needed for inter-view prediction of the target views.

Scalable prediction structure for multiview video coding

2009 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems, 2009
Both temporal prediction and inter-view prediction are employed to improve the coding efficiency in multiview video coding. Hierarchical B pictures are usually used as the basic structure for temporal prediction. The inter-view prediction in each temporal hierarchy level brings different improvement to the entire coding efficiency.

Multiview Video Coding (MVC)

2013
This chapter presents 3D formats and coding techniques for stereoscopic vision as well as for multiview examples. With a view to improving performance and increasing functionality in current formats, MPEG has recently undergone a new normalization phase for 3D video coding (3DVC). Three approaches are currently used in normalization.

Motion vector prediction in multiview video coding

IEEE International Conference on Image Processing 2005, 2005
In video coding, motion vectors always account for a large number of bits and affect coding efficiency largely. In this paper, we propose an efficient motion vector prediction algorithm for multiview video coding (MVC), which can predict motion vectors from adjacent views and achieve good prediction accuracy. We first investigate the correlations among

4-D Wavelet-Based Multiview Video Coding

IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems for Video Technology, 2006
The conventional multiview video coding (MVC) schemes, utilizing both neighboring temporal frames and view frames as possible references, have only shown a slight gain over those using temporal frames alone in terms of coding efficiency. The reason for this is that the neighboring temporal frames exhibit stronger correlation with the current frame and ...

Low complexity multiview video plus depth coding

IEEE Transactions on Consumer Electronics, 2011
Multiview video plus depth (MVD) is a new 3D video format that would support 3D applications developed by MPEG. Such a format is a combination of texture video and associated depth maps. Consequently, for the efficient transmission of 3D video signals, the compression of texture video and also the depth maps is required.

Multiview Video Coding Based on Wavelet Pyramids

2013 International Conference on Computational and Information Sciences, 2013
In this paper, we propose a scalable multiview video coding (MVC) algorithm based on Wavelet Pyramids and Set Partitioning in Hierarchical Tree (SPIHT) codec. This algorithm first uses the Mallat pyramid method to decompose the original images into subband of different scales, and then follows the usual phase matching method to conduct disparity ...
