Diagnostic Value of Muramidase

Postgraduate Medicine, 1971
Serum and urinary muramidase assays are of greatest value in diagnosing myelomonocytic and chronic myelocytic leukemia and in evaluating renal tubular damage. Like all known enzymes, muramidase is a protein. The assay of this enzyme is based on its ability to hydrolyze the cell wall of Micrococcus lysodeikticus, the substrate in most turbidimetric ...

Studies of muramidase in haematological disorders: serum and marrow muramidase in leukaemia

Pathology, 1973
Summary Estimations of serum and marrow plasma muramidase were made in 39 adults with leukaemia. In the 33 patients studied prior to therapy, the absolute levels of marrow muramidase paralleled those of serum muramidase and reflected the type of leukaemia present. The normal marrow to serum muramidase ratio lies between 1.5 : 1 and 3 : 1 and in only

RENAL TRANSPLANTATION AND MURAMIDASE ACTIVITY

Acta Medica Scandinavica, 1970
Abstract. Plasma and urinary muramidase activities have been measured in 26 patients with renal allogenic transplants. It was found that increased urinary muramidase rather accurately mirrored post‐transplantation events associated with tubular damage, i.e. rejection, tubular ischemia, and leakage from the ureter.
