Activation of smooth muscle myosin by smooth and skeletal muscle actins
It has been reported that actins from human uterine and from chicken gizzard smooth muscle are less effective than rabbit skeletal muscle actin in activating the Mg*+-ATPase activity of rabbit skeletal muscle myosin or heavy meromyosin (HMM, [ 1,2]). The difference has been shown to result from an -2-fold greater apparent dissociation constant (Kapp ...

Smooth muscle hyperplasia of the epididymis [PDF]
Benign smooth muscle cell proliferation commonly involves a variety of body organs, yet is a rare finding in the spermatic cord or paratesticular tissue of the male genital tract. Here we discuss a case of smooth muscle hyperplasia of the epididymis which presented as an intrascrotal mass.

Current trends in single‐cell RNA sequencing applications in diabetes mellitus
Single‐cell RNA sequencing is a powerful approach to decipher the cellular and molecular landscape at a single‐cell resolution. The rapid development of this technology has led to a wide range of applications, including the detection of cellular and molecular mechanisms and the identification and introduction of novel potential diagnostic and ...

Identification and Initial Functional Characterization of a Human Vascular Cell-Enriched Long Noncoding RNA [PDF]
OBJECTIVE: Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) represent a rapidly growing class of RNA genes with functions related primarily to transcriptional and post-transcriptional control of gene expression. There is a paucity of information about lncRNA expression and

Subcutaneous implantation of murine Panc02 pancreatic cancer cells depleted of sST2, a soluble decoy receptor for the proinflammatory interleukin‐33 (IL‐33), leads to a decreased number of GLUT4‐positive cancer‐associated adipocytes, reduced levels of the anti‐inflammatory molecule adiponectin, increased phosphorylation of IκBα, elevated Cxcl3 ...

Background Airway smooth muscle contraction is critical for maintenance of appropriate airway tone, and has been implicated in asthma pathogenesis. Smooth muscle contraction requires an “engine” (myosin activation) and a “transmission system” (actin ...

The impact of Hnrnpl deficiency on transcriptional patterns of developing muscle cells
We performed nanopore whole‐transcriptome sequencing comparing RNA from Hnrnpl‐knockdown versus control C2C12 myoblasts to investigate the contributions of Hnrnpl to muscle development. Our results indicate that Hnrnpl regulates the expression of genes involved with Notch signaling and skeletal muscle, particularly splicing patterns of specific muscle ...

CAF‐mediated immunosuppression in ovarian cancer is driven by IDO1, reducing T‐cell function. Inhibiting IDO1 restores T‐cell proliferation and cytotoxicity, increases cancer cell apoptosis, and may help overcome CAF‐induced immune suppression in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer. Targeting IDO1 may improve antitumor immunity.
