The Effect of Omega-3 Supplementation on Exercise-Induced Muscle Damage [PDF]
Exercise-induced muscle damage (EIMD) results in transient muscle inflammation, strength loss, muscle soreness (Damas et al., 2016) and can result in subsequent exercise avoidance.

The efficacy of ice massage in the treatment of exercise-induced muscle damage
The purpose of this investigation was to, firstly, examine the effects of repeated applications of ice massage on the indirect markers associated with muscle damage using a within-subjects cross-over design and secondly, to examine how ice massage ...

Long‐term hippocampal alterations and cognitive impairment in a murine model of surgical sepsis
Using a mouse model of surgical sepsis, we tested long‐term memory and analyzed the transcriptome of single cells isolated from the hippocampus. Survivor mice showed worse memory, loss of certain brain cell subpopulations, and abnormal immune cell activity—suggesting that post‐sepsis brain alterations may be linked to cognitive deficits.

Age-related loss of skeletal muscle function; impairment of gene expression.
Mechano Growth Factor (MGF) is derived from the insulin-like growth factor (IGF-I) but its sequence differs from the systemic IGF-I produced by the liver. MGF is expressed by mechanically overloaded muscle and is involved in tissue repair and adaptation.

The Effects of Exercise-Induced Muscle Damage in Trained Females Following Repeated Sprint Activity [PDF]
Purpose: The purpose of the study was to evaluate the use of a sprinting protocol to consistently generate exercise-induced muscle damage (EIMD) using an active female population, and to observe how jumping metrics and sprint performance change due to ...

The MRP4 transporter exports several drugs and signaling molecules. Here, we identified key promoter elements regulating basal MRP4 expression. Using reporter assays, we defined a conserved region with essential Sp1 and contributory Ets sites, which controlled basal MRP4 expression.

Noninvasive Estimation of Myosin Heavy Chain Composition in Human Skeletal Muscle
Purpose: Information on muscle fiber type composition is of great importance in muscle physiology and athletic performance. Because there are only a few techniques available that noninvasively and accurately provide an estimate of muscle fiber type ...

Pharmacological inhibition of PERK in a DEN‐induced mouse model of liver cancer does not reduce tumor burden but alters cellular stress signaling. Despite blocking PERK activity, downstream stress responses, including CHOP expression, remain active, suggesting compensatory mechanisms within the unfolded protein response that may influence tumor ...

Early‐life exposure to a high‐fat diet altered intact Achilles tendons in rat offspring, making them thinner, stiffer, and molecularly distinct even without injury. These findings suggest that developmental high‐fat diet exposure may impair tendon quality and increase susceptibility to mechanical overload or tendon injury later in life.

In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.
