The effect of simultaneous application of contrast temperature therapy and intermittent compression on recovery following exercise induced muscle damage

open access: yes, 2011
Objective: To determine the effects of the simultaneous application of contrast temperature therapy with intermittent compression as a recovery strategy for the quadriceps muscle following exercise induced muscle damage in moderately active adult ...

Tumor B‐cell infiltration in platinum‐treated advanced muscle‐invasive urothelial carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Bladder tumors with higher pretreatment memory B‐cell infiltration were linked to longer survival after cisplatin chemotherapy, but not carboplatin. These tumors also showed more organized immune structures (tertiary lymphoid structures) and a shared pro‐inflammatory B‐cell‐rich community, suggesting that memory B cells may help identify patients most ...

ZW4864‐mediated inhibition of the β‐catenin/BCL9/BCL9L complex reveals therapeutic potential in bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
BCL9 and BCL9L drive bladder cancer progression by enhancing β‐catenin signaling, promoting proliferation, migration, invasion, and organoid growth. Genetic depletion of BCL9(L) suppresses malignant phenotypes, while pharmacological disruption of the β‐catenin/BCL9(L) complex with ZW4864 inhibits canonical Wnt signaling and tumor‐associated cellular ...

Creatine kinaza as transient muscular damage indicator: Analyzes and importance for technology of sports training [PDF]

open access: yesFizička Kultura, 2018
Previous research suggests that there is no single marker that would be sufficiently reliable indicator of muscle damage and overtraining. Monitoring several physiological indicators can lead to the desired response.

Raman‐based label‐free microscopic analysis of the pancreas in living zebrafish larvae

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Forward stimulated Raman scattering (F‐SRS) and epi coherent anti‐Stokes Raman scattering (E‐CARS) allow label‐free discrimination of distinct subcellular structures in the pancreas of living zebrafish larvae. Given the straightforward applicability, we anticipate broad implementation of Raman microscopy in other organs and across various biomedical ...

Exercise-Induced Muscle Damage and Recovery in Young and Middle-Aged Males with Different Resistance Training Experience

open access: yesSports, 2019
This study compared the time course of recovery after a squatting exercise in trained young (YG; n = 9; age 22.3 ± 1.7 years) and trained (MT; n = 9; 39.9 ± 6.2 years) and untrained (MU; n = 9; age 44.4 ± 6.3 years) middle-aged males ...

The cardiospecificity of the third-generation cTnT assay after exercise-induced muscle damage

open access: yes, 2002
Purpose The purpose of the present study was to examine the cardiospecificity of cTnI and the new third-generation cTnT assay, in the presence of exercise-induced muscle damage in highly trained individuals, and to examine the impact of a maximal ...

Iron homeostasis disruption and lipid peroxidation in skeletal muscle during short‐term immobilization

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
14‐day casting‐induced immobilization reduced gastrocnemius muscle mass and increased non‐heme iron and ferritin heavy chain levels. Despite iron accumulation, transferrin receptor 1 and iron regulatory protein 2 were paradoxically upregulated. Lipid peroxidation was elevated without compensatory antioxidant responses.

Investigating the Effect of Testosterone Supplement on Heart and Muscle Damage in Rats Applied with Swimming Exercise

open access: yesTürk Spor ve Egzersiz Dergisi, 2019
Anabolic Androgenic Steroids which are a synthetic derivative of testosterone are known to be used by some sportsmen in order to improve performance. The present study was conducted to investigate the effect of testosterone supplement on heart and muscle

Angiogenic Activity in Damaged Skeletal Muscle

open access: yesExperimental Biology and Medicine, 1990
After a muscle is damaged, blood vessels spontaneously grow into the injured region as the muscle fibers regenerate. The stimulus for this vascular ingrowth is currently unknown. We hypothesized that the damaged muscle releases a factor(s) capable of stimulating this revascularization.
