Functional and Structural Adaptations of Skeletal Muscle to Microgravity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Our purpose is to summarize the major effects of space travel on skeletal muscle with particular emphasis on factors that alter function. The primary deleterious changes are muscle atrophy and the associated decline in peak force and power.

The effects of exercise-induced muscle damage on pacing strategy during time-trial performance [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Previous research has suggested that resistance training can improve endurance performance by improving muscle strength, power and speed whilst maintaining endurance capacity.

Muscle Fatigue from the Perspective of a Single Crossbridge [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The repeated intense stimulation of skeletal muscle rapidly decreases its force- and motion-generating capacity. This type of fatigue can be temporally correlated with the accumulation of metabolic by-products, including phosphate (Pi) and protons (H ...

Pulsed Ultrasound Does Not Affect Recovery From Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Aim: To investigate the effects of pulsed Ultrasound (US) in recovery from Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness (DOMS). Methods: Twelve healthy male athletes (mean age 23.83±1.697 year) performed an eccentric exercise protocol of non-dominant elbow flexors to ...

Sports Injury and Muscle Power.

open access: yesRigakuryoho Kagaku, 2003

Cut‐Off Points for Low Relative 30‐s Sit‐to‐Stand Power and Their Associations With Adverse Health Conditions

open access: yesJournal of Cachexia, Sarcopenia and Muscle
Background Despite muscle power derived from the 5‐rep sit‐to‐stand (STS) test having been demonstrated to be a valuable biomarker in older individuals, there is limited information regarding muscle power derived from the 30‐s STS test, a widely used ...
