The impact of frailty syndrome on skeletal muscle histology: preventive effects of exercise

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Frailty syndrome exacerbates skeletal muscle degeneration via increased ECM deposition and myofiber loss. This study, using a murine model, demonstrates that endurance exercise attenuates these histopathological alterations, preserving muscle integrity. Findings support exercise as a viable strategy to counteract frailty‐induced musculoskeletal decline

Trunk muscle strength in athletes

open access: yesMedicine & Science in Sports & Exercise, 1988
Maximal voluntary strength of the trunk muscles was measured in 57 male elite athletes (soccer players, wrestlers, tennis players, and gymnasts), 14 female elite gymnasts, and in a normal group of 87 conscripts. Mean ages in the different groups ranged from 18-22 yr. An isokinetic (constant velocity) technique was used to record maximal torque produced

Musculoskeletal full-body models including a detailed thoracolumbar spine for children and adolescents aged 6-18 years [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Currently available musculoskeletal inverse-dynamics thoracolumbar spine models are entirely based on data from adults and might therefore not be applicable for simulations in children and adolescents. In addition, these models lack lower extremities, which are required for comprehensive evaluations of functional activities or therapeutic exercises. We
