Optical neuromodulation with IR light allows stimulation of the PNS without the need for physical contact with the target nerve or without requiring any genetic modification. The clinical translation of this technique will pave the way to the development of neural interfaces for restoring sensory feedback in individuals with limb amputation.

Paying for Pain: How Healthcare Costs Influence Physical Pain Predictions
ABSTRACT As healthcare costs continue to rise in the United States, consumers increasingly encounter financial burdens that impact their economic well‐being along with their psychological experiences surrounding medical care. This research examines how the pain of paying, a well‐established concept in marketing, shapes consumers' predictions of ...

Is resting muscle sympathetic nerve activity related to peripheral or cerebrovascular haemodynamics at high altitude? A retrospective analysis. [PDF]
Abstract High‐altitude hypoxia elicits several profound physiological responses, including substantial increases in muscle sympathetic nerve activity (MSNA); however, the association of this heightened MSNA with cardiovascular and cerebrovascular haemodynamics remains unclear in lowlanders and indigenous highlander populations.

Long‐term chronic high‐altitude hypobaric hypoxia increases susceptibility to ICH, particularly among migrant populations lacking EPAS1/SENP1 adaptive genetic variants relative to high‐altitude indigenous residents. Persistent hypoxia initiates blood–brain barrier (BBB) breakdown, aberrant glial and immune activation, and progressive neuronal injury ...

ABSTRACT Foot–ankle and walking exercises have been proposed as potential strategies for managing symptoms in people with diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN), yet evidence from primary care remains limited. This pilot study assessed the feasibility and acceptability of these interventions and explored preliminary outcome patterns in DPN, stress, and ...

ABSTRACT Objective Incretin‐based obesity therapies (IBTs), especially GLP‐1 receptor agonists (GLP‐1 RAs), effectively treat obesity and improve comorbidities. However, their impact on energy metabolism is unclear. A recent case of acute generalized muscle weakness in a patient with mitochondrial myopathy after tirzepatide exposure raises concerns ...

Abstract Surface electromyography (EMG) is a noninvasive technology that detects voluntary muscle activation and has emerged as a valuable tool for neuromuscular assessment and rehabilitation. By using surface electrodes placed over targeted muscle groups, EMG enables the detection of muscle activity without the discomfort associated with invasive ...
