Catecholamine-Induced Muscle Weakness

Archives of Neurology, 1977
Infusions of epinephrine or levarterenol bitartrate into a rabbit nerve-muscle preparation decreased the force of the evoked twitch of anterior tibial and gastrocnemius-soleus muscles. The adverse effect of the catecholamines was not directly on skeletal muscle.

Serotonin-Induced Muscle Weakness

Archives of Neurology, 1974
Infusions of serotonin into a rat nervemuscle preparation decreased the force of the evoked twitch of anterior tibial and soleus muscles. Antiserotonin drugs (cyproheptadine hydrochloride, methysergide, chlorpromazine hydrochloride) prevented the adverse effect of serotonin if they were given prior to the serotonin infusion.

Powerful signals for weak muscles

Ageing Research Reviews, 2009

This is highly relevant, since they represent targets for future promising clinical investigations.
