Occurrence and mineralogy of the margarite- and muscovite-bearing pseudomorphs after topaz in the Juurakko pegmatite, Orivesi, southern Finland [PDF]
Margarite- and muscovite-bearing pseudomorphs after topaz are described from the Juurakko pegmatite dyke, Orivesi, southern Finland. A supercritical vapour phase rich in calcium and alkalies caused alteration of topaz and some other silicates during ...

Composites Based on Post-Industrial Wood Plastic Waste and Ultrasonic Treated Muscovite [PDF]
In this work muscovite was ultrasonically treated to obtain composites with post-industrial wood plastic residues. The muscovite was ultrasonicated for 30 or 60 min and mixed with the polymeric matrix at a constant level of 15% (weight percentage).

Atomically thin mica flakes and their application as ultrathin insulating substrates for graphene [PDF]
We show that it is possible to deposit, by mechanical exfoliation on SiO2/Si wafers, atomically thin mica flakes down to a single monolayer thickness.

Influence of OH- concentration on the illitization of kaolinite at high pressure [PDF]
The products of hydrothermal reactions of kaolinite at 300°C and 1000 bars were studied in KOH solutions covering an OH- concentration, [OH-], of 1M to 3.5M. XRD patterns indicated a notable influence of the [OH-] on the reaction.

Potassium at the Origins of Life: Did Biology Emerge from Biotite in Micaceous Clay?
Intracellular potassium concentrations, [K+], are high in all types of living cells, but the origins of this K+ are unknown. The simplest hypothesis is that life emerged in an environment that was high in K+.

Chemical zoning of muscovite megacrystal from the Brazilian Pegmatite Province
Macroscopically homogenous muscovite plate from the Cruzeiro pegmatite, located in the Eastern Pegmatite Province in Minas Gerais, may show complex distribution patterns of some trace elements. In geochronological and petrological studies, as for example

Exhumation, crustal deformation, and thermal structure of the Nepal Himalaya derived from the inversion of thermochronological and thermobarometric data and modeling of the topography [PDF]
Two end‐member kinematic models of crustal shortening across the Himalaya are currently debated: one assumes localized thrusting along a single major thrust fault, the Main Himalayan Thrust (MHT) with nonuniform underplating due to duplexing, and the ...
