Mutual Coupling Reduction of Antennas on a Complex Superstructure

open access: yesJournal of Electromagnetic Waves and Applications, 2004
A useful method for mutual coupling reduction of antennas on complex superstructure is proposed. The best position and direction of the victim antenna with respect to the causative antenna are obtained by a genetic algorithm (GA) and a matrix Green's function. The MoM solver is used to achieve coupling factors such as Z 21 and S 21 between two antennas.

Mutual coupling reduction between PIFAs on handheld devices

open access: yes2010 IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society International Symposium, 2010
Multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) technology is widely used in modern wireless communication devices in order to achieve higher channel capacities without additional power and frequency spectrum. A number of closely packed antenna elements are normally required in modern multi-element-antenna (MEA) handsets or wireless routers using MIMO technology.

Characterization and Reduction of Mutual Coupling Between Stacked Patches

IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 2011
In this paper mutual coupling between stacked patches is studied. The considered stacked-patch configuration has a dielectric-air-dielectric topology, and the level of mutual coupling has been related to the working region, which is defined depending on the gain and frequency bandwidth of the antenna, as well as on the shape of the radiation pattern ...

Mutual Coupling Reduction and Gain Enhancement Using Angular Offset Elements in Circularly Polarized Patch Array

open access: yesIEEE Antennas and Wireless Propagation Letters, 2013
An effective technique on mutual coupling reduction of circularly polarized (CP) patch antennas is presented in this letter. The technique addresses the surface currents of CP patches flowing in opposite directions in order to reduce mutual coupling ...

Mutual coupling reduction of multiple antenna systems

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering, 2020
A multi-band multi-antenna system has become an important trend in the development of mobile communication systems. However, strong mutual coupling tends to occur between antenna elements with a small space, distorting array antennas’ performance.

A Pixelated Resonator for Mutual Coupling Reduction

2020 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation and North American Radio Science Meeting, 2020
In this paper, a systematic procedure to reduce mutual coupling between linear $2 \times 1$ array microstrip antennas is proposed. The proposed design procedure is based on pixelization of the surface between two patch elements and the application of a binary particle swarm optimization (BPSO) algorithm.

Eigenvalue Based Mutual Coupling Reduction

2019 IEEE 89th Vehicular Technology Conference (VTC2019-Spring), 2019
This work introduces a novel decoupling technique which employs the theory of coupled characteristic modes for a two element microstrip array. The key idea is to optimize the shape of the decoupling structure using the eigenvalues of the coupled array which can be computed with no prior knowledge of the excitation arrangement.

On the reduction of mutual coupling employing a polyphase antenna

21st Annual IEEE International Symposium on Personal, Indoor and Mobile Radio Communications, 2010
In the present paper an array antenna is implemented similar to polyphase filters. This type of antenna implementation is shown to reduce the antenna element mutual coupling effect on the array. In an antenna arrangement where the beam properties are controlled from the baseband, the polyphase antenna requires a reduced number of amplifiers than a ...
