Mutual coupling reduction between microstrip patch antennas

2012 6th European Conference on Antennas and Propagation (EUCAP), 2012
A compact and simple shape of defected ground structure (DGS) is applied to reduce the mutual coupling between array elements in a microstrip array design. The proposed DGS with its low width is inserted between the adjacent E-plane coupled elements in the array to suppress the surface waves. Parametric studies of DGS parameters for a transmission line

Novel DGS shape for mutual coupling reduction

2016 German Microwave Conference (GeMiC), 2016
This paper presents a MIMO antenna system configuration. The paper is devoted to minimize the mutual coupling between antennas fed from different ports with the use of DGS structures. The paper discusses the system with and without introducing a novel DGS shape. The antennas are operating at 5GHz (Wi-Fi application).

Mutual Coupling Reduction by Pixelated Resonator Structure

2019 IEEE Indian Conference on Antennas and Propogation (InCAP), 2019
In this paper, a systematic procedure to reduce mutual coupling between linear 2×1 array microstrip antennas is proposed. The proposed design procedure is based on pixelization of the surface between two patch elements and application of a binary particle swarm optimization (BPSO) algorithm.

Reduction of Mutual Coupling for Vivaldi Antennas

2018 International Applied Computational Electromagnetics Society Symposium - China (ACES), 2018
Mutual coupling between antennas is a widespread problem that may affect the performance of wireless systems. This work tries to solve such a problem for Vivaldi antennas. A method based on characteristic mode analysis (CMA) is used to analyze and reduce mutual coupling between Vivaldi antennas without changing the impedance bandwidth.

Mutual coupling reduction in patch antenna arrays

2018 IEEE International Vacuum Electronics Conference (IVEC), 2018
In this paper, meander line (ML) as a parasitic configuration is introduced to reduce the mutual coupling (MC) between two microstrip patch antenna elements. Inserting a slot in the middle of ground plane is a simple method to reduce the MC, by adding the ML in the proper position in the slot can further reduce the MC.

Mutual Coupling Reduction Using Grounded Copper Vertical Plane Structure

2018 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Workshop Series on 5G Hardware and System Technologies (IMWS-5G), 2018
Nowadays, a common concern in 5G communications is the large amount of antennas per array, this is important in mMIMO solutions. This imply a reduction of space between elements, and thus a significant increase in coupling. This paper presents a new solution to reduce mutual coupling in an antenna array.

Mutual Coupling Reduction Between Flexible MIMO Antennas

2014
In this chapter, a novel µ-negative (MNG) metamaterial structure is proposed to reduce mutual coupling between two printed monopole antennas operating at 2.45 GHz. The unit cell consists of two split ring resonator (SRR) structures bridged at the centre, which mimics a cascaded filter; hence, termed as Bridged Split Ring Resonators (BSRRs).

Mutual Coupling Reduction of Rotationally Symmetric Multiport Antennas

IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 2018
A systematic method for reducing the mutual coupling of a rotationally symmetric multiport antenna system is proposed. A compact design example for a four-port antenna with low mutual coupling across two frequency bands centered around 2.4 and 5.8 GHz is provided.

Mutual Coupling Reduction for Linearly Arranged MIMO Antenna

2019 Cross Strait Quad-Regional Radio Science and Wireless Technology Conference (CSQRWC), 2019
In the present paper, a new technique to reduce mutual coupling between linearly arranged patch antenna array is presented. Antennas are arrange in close space with edge-to-edge separation of 0.096λ and center-to-center spacing of 0.29λ, where λ is the free space wavelength.

Mutual coupling reduction between two microstrip patch antennas

2008 Canadian Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering, 2008
This paper presents the new method for mutual coupling reduction in closely-packed microstrip patch antenna. The structure includes of a single ground plane and it is consequently low cost and simple to fabricate. It is found that isolation of more than 40 dB can be achieved between two parallel microstrip patch antennas with using of one pair of slit ...
