Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

An Improved Estimation Method of Mutual Inductance Angle for a Two-Dimensional Wireless Power Transfer System

open access: yes, 2021
The improvement of power transmission efficiency (PTE) is an important issue in the design of a wireless power transfer (WPT) system. The WPT system with multiple transmitting (Tx) or receiving (Rx) coils is a way to improve the PTE.

Mutual Inductance and Selfinductance in Mesoscopic Systems

open access: yesActa Physica Polonica A, 2002
The role played by the magnetostatic interaction in mesoscopic multichannel systems is discussed. We show that the interaction of currents from different channels, when taken in the selfconsistent mean field approximation, leads to selfinductance terms in the Hamiltonian producing an internal magnetic flux.

Mixed‐class J‐domain protein scaffolds promote expanded aggregate handling and multivalent Hsp70 engagement during functional disaggregase assembly

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein aggregates threaten proteostasis and cell health. In human cells, Hsp70–J‐domain protein‐based disaggregases remove aggregates, but how they assemble remains unclear. Our biochemical findings show that DNAJA2‐ and DNAJB1‐containing disaggregase scaffolds enhance luciferase aggregate targeting, and that Hsp70 recruitment by both J‐domain ...

Design of Multiple- Transmitter WPT System with Angular Misalignment Estimation from Mutual Inductance Tracking

open access: yes, 2022
In this paper, a three-orthogonal WPT system is proposed to estimate the angular misalignment of a receiver from the mutual inductance tracking method between transmitters and a receiver.

Convex Optimization of Mutual Inductance between Multi-Antiparallel Coils for Distance-Insensitive Wireless Charging of Air-ground Robots [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
This article proposes convex optimization of mutual inductance between multiantiparallel coils (MACs) for distance-insensitive wireless charging of air-ground robots. In order to reduce optimization costs, the proposed optimization method is developed by

Reconstructing enzyme evolution by protein engineering

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Natural enzyme evolution can be retraced by protein engineering methods such as directed evolution, rational design, and ancestral sequence reconstruction. These approaches reveal how enzymes emerged from ligand‐binding scaffolds, developed varying substrate preferences, formed oligomeric complexes, adapted to environmental changes, and evolved novel ...

Precise Analysis on Mutual Inductance Variation in Dynamic Wireless Charging of Electric Vehicle

open access: yesEnergies, 2018
Wireless power transfer provides an opportunity to charge electric vehicles (EVs) without electrical cables. Two categories of this technique are distinguished: Stationary Wireless Charging (SWC) and Dynamic Wireless Charging (DWC) systems ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

On a standard of mutual inductance [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the Royal Society of London. Series A, Containing Papers of a Mathematical and Physical Character, 1907
Abstract 1. Introductory.—In many electrical measurements, such as those of capacity and inductance, as well as in the magnetic testing of iron, an accurately known standard of mutual inductance is of great value. It is sometimes convenient to derive such a standard from the standard unit of resistance, and this may be done in several
