Smart food‐sharing platforms for social sustainability: a heuristic algorithm approach

open access: yesInternational Transactions in Operational Research, EarlyView.
Abstract This study examines how smart food‐sharing platforms (SFSP) can help reduce food waste and suggests a method for using smart contracts to share extra food among different partners effectively. For smart contracts to work automatically and prevent food wastage, artificial intelligence systems can recognize how smart clauses should be executed ...

Electroweak Theory and the 1996/97 Precision Electroweak Data [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
We review the empirical evidence for the validity of the Standard Electroweak Theory in Nature. The experimental data are interpreted in terms of an effective Lagrangian for Z physics, allowing for potential sources of SU(2) violation and containing the ...

The Multivesicular Bodies (MVBs)-Localized AAA ATPase LRD6-6 Inhibits Immunity and Cell Death Likely through Regulating MVBs-Mediated Vesicular Trafficking in Rice

open access: yesPLOS Genetics, 2016
Previous studies have shown that multivesicular bodies (MVBs)/endosomes-mediated vesicular trafficking may play key roles in plant immunity and cell death. However, the molecular regulation is poorly understood in rice. Here we report the identification and characterization of a MVBs-localized AAA ATPase LRD6-6 in rice.

Harnessing the Therapeutic Potential of Cell Secretomes and Extracellular Vesicles for Craniofacial Regenerative Applications

open access: yesJournal of Periodontal Research, EarlyView.
The scoping review summarizes the current preclinical and clinical evidence for the use of “cell‐free” therapies in craniofacial (periodontal, bone and soft‐tissue) regeneration. It also aims to highlight key challenges and strategies towards the clinical translation of these therapies.

Defender or accomplice? Dual roles of plant vesicle trafficking in restricting and enabling geminiviral systemic infection

open access: yesNew Phytologist, EarlyView.
Summary The vesicle trafficking system enables multidirectional cargo fluxes between endomembrane compartments. However, vesicle trafficking plays dual roles during pathogen infections. In plants, it mediates autophagic immune responses but can also be hijacked by pathogens to facilitate successful infections.

Heat Shock Transcription Factor OsHsfc1a Enhances Rice Seedling Thermotolerance by Regulating OsMFT1 and Preserving Chloroplast Structure Under Heat Stress

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT High‐temperature stress severely threatens rice (Oryza sativa L.) growth and productivity, particularly during the seedling stage, making heat tolerance an essential breeding target. In this study, we identified the heat shock transcription factor OsHsfc1a as a positive regulator of thermotolerance in rice seedlings.

The Coral Larval Box “CoLaB”: a novel and low‐cost method for delivering competent coral larvae onto degraded reefs for restoration

open access: yesRestoration Ecology, EarlyView.
Abstract Introduction Coral reef restoration strategies are rapidly evolving to restore corals and reef functions in response to accelerating disturbances worldwide. One active restoration technique that is rapidly gaining momentum is the larval enhancement method which involves the introduction of cultured coral larvae directly onto degraded reefs ...

Evaluation of the rate of residual polystomatic sublingual acinar tissue without tunneling dorsal to the digastricus using a ventral or ventrolateral approach in cats

open access: yesVeterinary Surgery, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective To evaluate the rate of residual polystomatic sublingual acinar tissue if tunneling dorsal to the digastricus muscle and dissection to the sublingual caruncle is not performed during mandibular‐sublingual sialadenectomy in cats. Study design Cadaveric study. Sample population A total of 10 feline cadavers.
