Magnetic induction for MWD telemetry system

2017 Texas Symposium on Wireless and Microwave Circuits and Systems (WMCS), 2017
Nowadays, many methods have been applied for data transmission of MWD system. Magnetic induction is one of the alternative technique. In this paper, detailed discussion on magnetic induction communication system is provided. The optimal coil configuration is obtained by theoretical analysis and software simulations.

An Absolute Test of Rival Theories for MWDs in Heterogeneous Polymerization-MWDs during Quasi-Living Polymerization

1999
Many rival theories proposed for the origin of the broad MWDs of polymers produced with heterogeneous catalysts still persist. As an absolute test for them, the importance of the transitional behavior of MWDs during the quasi-living stage of polymerization is emphasized.

The boundary element method in EM-MWD

Journal of Electronics (China), 1992
The linear boundary element method for electromagnetic fields is taken to deal with the excitation of a non-symmetrical electric dipole in a lossy half space. A simple and practical algorithm is offered to the Measurement While Drilling with Electromagnetic waves (EM-MWD).

Joint Inversion of MWD and wireline measurements

SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts 1999, 1999
Summary Traditionally, measurement-while-drilling (MWD) data are used primarily for geosteering purposes and drilling decisions such as monitoring of hole direction, deviation, and delineation of abnormally pressured zones. Wireline resistivity measurements, galvanic and induction, play a fundamental role in identifying and delineating oil- and gas ...

MWD Vibration Measurements: A Time for Standardisation

SPE/IADC Drilling Conference and Exhibition, 2009
Abstract Since downhole vibration measurements were introduced in the early 1990's, these measurements have become extremely useful for improving drilling efficiency in most parts of the world. Most operators will specify a vibration sensor of some sort to be run with most MWD (Measurement While Drilling) and LWD (Logging While Drilling)

Electromagnetic Wave Resistivity MWD Tool

SPE Drilling Engineering, 1986
Summary This paper is an overview of the development of a 2-MHz [2×106-cycle/sec] measurement-while-drilling (MWD) resistivity logging tool. This tool uses propagating electromagnetic waves rather than the pseudostatic fields of its low-frequency counterparts.

Acoustic Telemetry: The New MWD System

Proceedings of SPE Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition, 1996
Abstract A new MWD system utilizing acoustic telemetry system has been researched, based on the principle of elastic wave propagation and magnetostrictive technology. The system is intended for data transmission through jointed drill strings with much higher reliability and transmitting efficiency.

Brief: An MWD Downhole Assistant Driller

Journal of Petroleum Technology, 1996
Introduction Measurement-while-drilling (MWD) systems have been used historically to position a wellbore correctly and to evaluate geological formations around the borehole. In addition to having real-time information about where you are drilling and what you are drilling, it is also advantageous to have information

Recommendations for MWD Tool Reliability Statistics

Proceedings of SPE Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition, 1989
ABSTRACT MWD reliability plays a major role in the overall economic success of that service. MWD customers need to consider reliability when evaluating bids from various service companies. The least expensive bid may not necessarily correlate with the most economic service. Comparing different MWD services is difficult due to the variety
