Unveiling shocks in planetary nebulae [PDF]
The propagation of a shock wave into a medium is expected to heat the material beyond the shock, producing noticeable effects in intensity line ratios such as [O III]/Halpha.

Epigenomics‐guided precision oncology: Chromatin variants in prostate tumor evolution
Abstract Prostate cancer is a common malignancy that in 5%–30% leads to treatment‐resistant and highly aggressive disease. Metastasis‐potential and treatment‐resistance is thought to rely on increased plasticity of the cancer cells—a mechanism whereby cancer cells alter their identity to adapt to changing environments or therapeutic pressures to create

The oncoprotein MYCN drives malignancy in various cancer types, including neuroblastoma (NB). However, our understanding of the mechanisms underlying its transcriptional activity and oncogenic function, as well as effective strategies to target it ...

Background MYCN gene amplification is related to risk stratification. Therefore it is important to identify accurately the level of the MYCN gene as early as possible in neuroblastoma (NB); however, for patients with bone marrow (BM) metastasis who need ...

An introspective update on the influence of miRNAs in breast carcinoma and neuroblastoma chemoresistance [PDF]
Chemoresistance to conventional cytotoxic drugsmay occur in any type of cancer and this can either be inherent or develop through time. Studies have linked this acquired resistance to the abnormal expression of microRNAs (miRNAs) that normally silence ...

Deregulated enhancer‐promoter communication in cancer through altered nuclear architecture
Abstract Enhancers are critical regulators of gene expression. Structural variations in cancer genomes can lead to enhancer hijacking, where oncogenes are activated by mistargeted enhancer activity. Novel enhancer‐promoter interactions may also arise through chromosomal rearrangements that create extrachromosomal DNA elements.

The long noncoding RNA linc-NeD125 controls the expression of medulloblastoma driver genes by microRNA sponge activity [PDF]
Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) are major regulators of physiological and disease-related gene expression, particularly in the central nervous system. Dysregulated lncRNA expression has been documented in several human cancers, and their tissue-specificity
