In this study, the dihydrolipoyl dehydrogenase (lpdA) gene was used to distinguish Mycoplasma mycoides subsp. capri (Mmc) from Mycoplasma capricolum subsp. capricolum (Mcc), two of four Mycoplasma species that cause contagious agalactia in sheep and goats.

Pathogenicity of Mycoplasma capricolum in sheep after experimental infection
Veterinary Microbiology, 1987Mycoplasma (M.) capricolum has been frequently isolated from diseased as well as from healthy sheep in Morocco. In order to determine its pathogenicity for sheep, experiments were performed in three trials with the Moroccan isolate 012. The following results were obtained: Ewes inoculated intramammarily developed acute mastitis; the organism was ...

Gene expression signals in Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae and Mycoplasma capricolum.
Israel journal of medical sciences, 1987In Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae, the single genes for 16S and 23S rRNAs are clustered in one operon from which the 5S rRNA gene is separated by more than 4 kbp. This operon, gene 2413 and gene X from M. hyopneumoniae and the 5' ends of both rRNA operons from M. capricolum were cloned and used for analysis of the following gene expression signals: promoters

Small stable RNAs in Mycoplasma capricolum.
Nucleic acids symposium series, 1993Five small stable RNA species have been isolated from Mycoplasma capricolum. Together with the previously found RNA species, M.capricolum contains at least six small RNAs besides rRNAs and tRNAs. The sequences of these RNAs, designated MCS1 to MCS6, have been determined. MCS1 RNA is homologous to 4.5S RNA of E. coli, MCS5 to 10Sa RNA and MCS6 to M1 RNA
