Acquired and Progressive Myelinated Nerve Fibers
Archives of Ophthalmology, 1985Follow-up data are presented on a previously described child in whom myelinated nerve fibers presumably developed 5 1/2 months after an optic nerve decompression. During the subsequent five years, the myelinated nerve fibers have progressively enlarged. Five years after surgery, myelinated nerve fibers appeared in the patient's fellow eye.

Beading of myelinated nerve fibers
Experimental Neurology, 1965Abstract The phenomena of beading upon stretching was studied in nerve fibers of freeze-substituted nerves. Beading appears rapidly along the length of the mammalian nerve. Nerve fibers of frogs kept at low temperatures have a crenated shape in cross section and show wrinkling in longitudinal section, but no beading is produced upon stretching them ...

MYELINATED NERVE FIBERS AND RETINAL VASCULAR ABNORMALITIES
Retina, 1996Abnormal retinal vessels may develop in a region of myelinated nerve fibers, and these vessels may cause vitreous hemorrhages. The clinical histories of seven patients with retinovascular abnormalities in a patch of myelinated nerve fibers are presented. None of the reported patients had other evidence of systemic disease.

Preservation and Staining of Myelinated Nerve Fibers
Methods, 1998Six procedures are given for preservation of myelinated nerve fibers for light or electron microscopic studies. These procedures fall into two main categories: those with and those without aldehyde fixation. Essentially different effects are attained by application of tannic acid, saline, microwave or conventional heating, or a decreased temperature ...

The beaded form of myelinated nerve fibers
Neuroscience, 1994When the nerves are lightly stretched and fixed by freeze-substitution, their fibers show the form-change termed "beading" which consists of a series of undulating constrictions and swellings in the internodes. This form change has not ordinarily been seen in chemically fixed nerves, or when it has, it has been ascribed to a pathological change or an ...

Antenna model for passive myelinated nerve fiber
2015 23rd International Conference on Software, Telecommunications and Computer Networks (SoftCOM), 2015A myelinated nerve fiber, stimulated by a current generator at the fiber beginning, is modeled as a straight thin wire antenna. The model is based on the corresponding Pocklington integro-differential equation for the perfectly conducting wire in a lossy unbounded homogenous space.

Transmission-Line Model for Myelinated Nerve Fiber
2005 IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology 27th Annual Conference, 2005Herein, the well-known cable equation for non-myelinated axon model is extended analytically for myelinated axon formulation. The classical cable equation is thereby modified into a linear second order ordinary differential equation with periodic coefficient, known as Hill's equation.

Physiology and pathophysiology of myelinated nerve fibers
2013The chief role of the axon is that of impulse conduction, which depends on the electrical cable structure and voltage-dependent ion channels of the axonal membrane. Over recent decades, the development of specialized techniques such as patch clamping and site-directed mutagenesis have established the contribution of neuronal ion channel function to the

Familial myelinated nerve fiber
Tropical OphthalmologyAbstract We describe three cases of myelinated retinal nerve fibres, in a patient, her brother and mother, suggesting that an inherited defect may be responsible in certain cases.
