Multi-Electrode Stimulation Of Myelinated Nerve Fibers

1993
Patients with a central nervous system injury resulting in total or partial paralysis of extremities often have an intact peripheral neuromuscular system. Many attempts were made to restore lost functions by artificial electrical stimulation of the peripheral neuromuscular system. In principle, inducing muscle contraction is possible through electrical

Subtotal Aplasia of Myelinated Nerve Fibers in the Sural Nerve*

Neuropediatrics, 1993
Thus far, only very few cases with neuronal maldevelopment in the peripheral nervous system have been reported (Table 1). The present sporadic case manifested itself with peripheral sensorimotor polyneuropathy in early infancy. Clinical findings included pareses and hypaesthesia of distal extremities and severely reduced nerve conduction velocities ...

In Vivo Studies of Myelinated Nerve Fibers

1964
Publisher Summary From the standpoint of both structure and function the myelinated nerve fiber is a highly specialized component of the nervous system. It represents a very intimate association of a nerve cell process with a satellite myelinating cell.

Beading Phenomena of Mammalian Myelinated Nerve Fibers

Science, 1963
Fresh mammalian nerve, when subjected to a small stretch, shows a beading phenomenon. The larger fibers appear as a series of dilations and constrictions at intervals of 40 to 75 μ. Upon relaxation this beading is gone within a minute. The beading is not produced by the special technique of freeze-substitution used to show the phenomenon.

[Retinal neovascularization with myelinated nerve fibers].

Journal francais d'ophtalmologie, 2008
The prevalence of myelinated retinal nerve fibers is 0.3%-0.6% of eyes. Although they often constitute benign lesions, they are rarely associated with retinal vascular abnormalities including preretinal neovascularization.A 31-year-old patient, with no previous pathological antecedents, consulted us for myodesopsia in her left eye.
