Therapy for Myhre Syndrome: Goals, Misconceptions, and Current Agents

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part C: Seminars in Medical Genetics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Myhre Syndrome (MYHRS, MIM #139210) is a rare, multisystem connective tissue disorder caused by recurrent heterozygous gain‐of‐function pathogenic variants in the SMAD4 gene, a key player in TGF‐β signaling and a regulator of extracellular matrix homeostasis.

Isovolumic relaxation strain imaging is an accurate and sensitive approach for detection of active diastolic dysfunction: A preclinical study

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
A modified approach was developed to accurately identify the isovolumetric relaxation time (IVRT) using an apical three‐chamber view. Compared with conventional echocardiography, isovolumic relaxation strain imaging (IVSI) helps to detect the earlier alternations of diastolic function in transverse aortic constriction (TAC) mice.

Utilization of Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging for Assessing Myocardial Fibrosis in Prognosis Evaluation and Risk Stratification of Patients with Dilated Cardiomyopathy

open access: yesReviews in Cardiovascular Medicine
Dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) is the ultimate manifestation of the myocardial response to various genetic and environmental changes and is characterized mainly by impaired left ventricular systolic and diastolic function.

Morphological and electrocardiographic criteria for myocardial fibrosis and atrial fibrillation

open access: yesИзвестия высших учебных заведений. Поволжский регион: Медицинские науки
Background. The formation of myocardial fibrosis is the leading mechanism for occurrence of atrial fibrillation. In this regard, an attempt to prevent development of myocardial fibrosis and its treatment is pathogenetically expedient.

Age and gender effects on echocardiographic and histopathological cardiac phenotypes in healthy adult mice

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
This study investigated the impact of age and sex on cardiac phenotypes in healthy adult C57BL/6J mice using echocardiography and histopathological analyses. Findings revealed that female mice demonstrated more pronounced global cardiac chamber dilation during aging.

Effects of Empagliflozin and Dapagliflozin in alleviating cardiac fibrosis through SIRT6-mediated oxidative stress reduction

open access: yesScientific Reports
Sodium-glucose co-transport protein 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors, a novel category of oral hypoglycemic agents, offer a promising outlook for individuals experiencing heart failure with reduced ejection fraction.
