Myocardial stunning and hibernation.
Hibernating myocardium is a potentially reversible form of left ventricular (LV) dysfunction the treatment of which improves function and prognosis. The identification of viable myocardium is critical in deciding which patients undergo revascularisation.

The role of fluvoxamine in the treatment of endotoxin‐induced acute heart injury
Abstract Background and Purpose Cardiovascular diseases are among the most common health problems worldwide. Inflammation plays a critical role in the pathogenesis of various heart diseases. Lipopolysaccharides (LPS) trigger inflammatory mechanisms, leading to an inflammatory response.

Mechanism of Cardiac Arrest in Fatal Anaphylaxis
This population‐based retrospective cohort study of clinical deterioration in anaphylaxis deaths identifies bronchospasm as the preponderant cause of cardiac arrest, especially in food and drug allergen exposures. The clinical implication is that anaphylaxis guidelines require appropriate emphasis on respiratory involvement and treatment to prevent ...

Oxyfedrine in myocardial stunning.
Effect of oxyfedrine (OXF)(1 mg/kg) administered just before reperfusion (post-treatment) was investigated in a canine model of myocardial stunning. In the saline-treated animals, myocardial stunning was evidenced by fall in MAP, decrease in LV peak (+) dP/dt, rise in LVEDP and incomplete regeneration of myocardial ATP, after reperfusion. OXF was found

The endoplasmic reticulum membrane protein complex (EMC) is an evolutionarily conserved, multi‐subunit transmembrane protein complex crucial to membrane protein biogenesis and cellular protein quality control. This review systematically examines the structure, functions and disease‐associated regulatory mechanisms of EMC across multiple organ systems ...

ABSTRACT Aims To explore relatives' experiences of the circulatory death of a family member following out‐of‐hospital cardiac arrest and to explore their hypothetical perspectives on being asked to decide about organ donation in this situation. This study forms part of a broader initiative undertaken to assess the prerequisites for implementing ...
