Formation of Myoglobin Corona at Polymer Microparticles
Adsorption of myoglobin molecules at negatively charged polystyrene microparticles was studied using the dynamic light scattering (DLS), electrophoresis (LDV) and the solution depletion method involving atomic force microscopy (AFM).

The aim of this prospective study was to evaluate and compare the relative increase of serum myoglobin level and total creatine kinase(CK) activity in acute myocardial infarction (AMI) patients (n=36). We measured serial changes in total CK activity and

BackgroundThe correlation between rhabdomyolysis and postoperative acute kidney injury has been reported in several surgical procedures. As a good predictor of rhabdomyolysis-related acute kidney injury, an elevated serum myoglobin level was often ...

An investigation into the feasibility of myoglobin-based single-electron transistors
Myoglobin single-electron transistors were investigated using nanometer- gap platinum electrodes fabricated by electromigration at cryogenic temperatures. Apomyoglobin (myoglobin without heme group) was used as a reference.

Label-Free, Highly Sensitive Electrochemical Aptasensors Using Polymer-Modified Reduced Graphene Oxide for Cardiac Biomarker Detection [PDF]
Acute myocardial infarction (AMI), also recognized as a ???heart attack,??? is one leading cause of death globally, and cardiac myoglobin (cMb), an important cardiac biomarker, is used for the early assessment of AMI.

Mechanism Underlying Green Discolouration of Myoglobin Induced by Atmospheric Pressure Plasma
In this study, we elucidated the mechanism underlying atmospheric pressure plasma (APP)-induced green discolouration of myoglobin. Green-coloured pigments are produced upon conversion of myoglobin into sulphmyoglobin, choleglobin, verdoheme, nitrihemin ...

We showed that myoglobin gene transcription and the appearance of myoglobin occur very early in myogenesis, in both humans and mice. In contrast to the contractile protein genes, there is a subsequent increase of 50- to 100-fold in myoglobin mRNA and protein levels during later muscle development.

Engineering tyrosine-based electron flow pathways in proteins: The case of aplysia myoglobin [PDF]
Tyrosine residues can act as redox cofactors that provide an electron transfer ("hole-hopping") route that enhances the rate of ferryl heme iron reduction by externally added reductants, for example, ascorbate.

“Rigid” structure is a key determinant for the low digestibility of myoglobin
Myoglobin, a critical protein responsible for meat color, has been shown insusceptible to digestion. The underlying mechanism is not clear. The present study aimed to evaluate whether the structural properties of myoglobin are associated with its ...
