Synopsis of the species of Myxobolus (Cnidaria, Myxozoa, Myxosporea) described between 2014 and 2020.

open access: yesFolia Parasitologica, 2021
A synopsis of the species of Myxobolus Bütschli, 1882 (Cnidaria, Myxosporea, Myxobolidae) described from 2014 up till now is presented. It includes 122 nominal species described all over the world. For each of the species, the most relevant morphological

Henneguya sp. in yellowfin goby Acanthogobius flavimanus from the San Francisco Estuary. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Myxozoan spores were observed in yellowfin goby Acanthogobius flavimanus collected from Suisun Marsh, San Francisco Estuary (SFE). Although histopathological changes associated with the parasite were not observed, the spores formed plasmodia that ...

Ultrastructural localisation of carbohydrates in four myxosporean parasites

open access: yesParasite, 2000
The existence and localisation of carbohydrates in four myxosporean parasites was investigated at transmission electron microscope, using lectin histochemistry techniques. The Myxosporea studied showed different lectin binding patterns.

The Potential of Oligochaeta as Intermediate Host of Myxosporea Parasite in Common Carp (Cyprinus carpio Linnaeus)

open access: yesJurnal Akuakultur Indonesia, 2003
Three genera of oligochaeta, i.e. Branchiura sowerbyi, Limnodrillus sp. and Lumbriculus sp. were fed on spores of Myxobolus artus before predated to juvenile of Cyprinus carpio. Spores of myxosporean were found on the fish, which get Limnodrillus.

Analysis of Kudoa thyrsites (Myxozoa: Myxosporea) spore antigens using monoclonal antibodies [PDF]

open access: yesDiseases of Aquatic Organisms, 2001
A method employing Percoll gradient centrifugation was developed to purify Kudoa thyrsites spores from somatic muscle tissue of Atlantic salmon Salmo salar. Highly purified spores were then used to immunize inbred BALB/c mice for derivation of hybridomas secreting Kudoa-specific monoclonal antibodies (mAbs).

Infections by Kudoa ciliatae (Myxozoa: Myxosporea) in Indo-Pacific whiting Sillago spp. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
Infections by Kudoa ciliatae Lom, Rohde & Dykova, 1992 were detected in 141 (32%) of 444 Indo-Pacific whiting Sillago spp, caught in Moreton Bay, Australia. The parasite was detected in the type host, S. ciliata (in 14% of 73 fish), and from 2 new hosts,

Repatriation of an old fish host as an opportunity for myxozoan parasite diversity: The example of the allis shad, Alosa alosa (Clupeidae), in the Rhine [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Background: Wildlife repatriation represents an opportunity for parasites. Reintroduced hosts are expected to accumulate generalist parasites via spillover from reservoir hosts, whereas colonization with specialist parasites is unlikely.
