Stimulation of N-cadherin-dependent neurite outgrowth by small molecule peptide mimetic agonists of the N-cadherin HAV motif

Peptides, 2010
N-cadherin is a cell adhesion molecule that promotes axon outgrowth and synapse formation during the development of the central nervous system. In addition, N-cadherin promotes glial cell adhesion and myelination of axons. Therefore, stimulating N-cadherin function with N-cadherin agonists could be used therapeutically to promote regeneration of the ...

An immobilized antibody targeting N-cadherin facilitates spread of N-cadherin-positive tumour cells.

Anticancer research, 2013
We investigated whether an antibody targeting N-cadherin facilitates the adhesion and spreading of N-cadherin-positive tumour cells under static conditions. Two human melanoma cell lines, HMB-2 and BLM, were selected for their presence and lack of expression of N-cadherin, respectively.

The Role of N-Cadherin in Breast Cancer

2003
Abstract : The intracellular signaling events that cause tumor cells to become metastatic are not well understood. N-cadherin and FGF-2 synergistically increase migration, invasion and secretion of extracellular proteases in breast tumor cells. Here, we define a metastatic signaling cascade activated by N-cadherin and FGF-2.
