n‐Hexane‐induced parkinsonism: Pathogenetic hypotheses
Movement Disorders, 1995Abstractn‐Hexane, similar hydrocarbons, and derivatives are common environmental pollutants and by‐products of lipid peroxidation, and they may have a nigrotoxic effect like that of 1‐methyl‐4‐phenyl‐1, 2, 3, 6‐tetrahydropyridine. This report describes our second case of parkinsonism in a subject exposed to n‐hexane.

Urinary excretion of some n-hexane metabolites
Pharmacological Research Communications, 1978Summary The urinary excretion of some n-hexane metabolites was investigated. Two metabolic products in rat, 1-hexanol and 2-hexanone, were identified and dosed by gas chromatography and mass spectrometry. 1-Hexanol is the major urinary metabolite of n-hexane in the rat and its excretion is related to the dose injected.

Effects of hexanal, trans-2-hexenal, and storage temperature on shelf life of fresh sliced apples.
Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2000In this paper, the effects of hexanal and trans-2-hexenal, which are both natural molecules characterizing apple aroma, on the microbial population and on color retention of fresh sliced apples were evaluated.

Focal conduction block in n-hexane polyneuropathy
Muscle & Nerve, 1998A 19-year-old man with an asymptomatic history of recreational gasoline vapor inhalation presented with subacute progressive quadriparesis. For 2 weeks, he had intensely inhaled Coleman fuel oil vapor, which contains n-hexane. Nerve conduction studies including near-nerve needle stimulation showed focal conduction block in the bilateral median and ...

Effect of hexanal on the shelf life of fresh apple slices.
Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 1999In this work the effects of hexanal, as a component of packaging atmosphere, on the shelf life of and evolution of naturally occurring microbial populations in fresh apple slices during storage at 4 and 15 degrees C were evaluated.

THE RADIOLYSIS OF LIQUID n-HEXANE
The Journal of Physical Chemistry, 1960The continuous decrease in hydrogen gas yield during the radiolysis of n- hexane is attributable to the addition of hydrogen atoms to the hexenes concurrently being produced. Unsaturation in the C/sub 7/--C/sub 12/ products arises from the addition reaction of alkyl plus alkenyl radicals.

Photoinduced conduction in n-hexane
Conference on Electrical Insulation & Dielectric Phenomena - Annual Report 1969, 1969The conductivity of liquid n-hexane can be increased by photoionizing the liquid itself or by photostimulating an immersed cathode. In particular, the latter method has been used to measure the mobility of negative charge carriers in the liquid. Although photoelectrons were taken to be injected at the cathode surface, the mobility values have been ...

Evoked Potentials in Chronic n-Hexane Intoxication
Clinical Electroencephalography, 1989Somatosensory, brainstem auditory and pattern-reversal visual evoked potentials (SEP, BAEP and PVEP) were studied in 5 patients with n-hexane polyneuropathy to determine if the CNS was affected. In SEPs, the median central conduction (N13-to-N20) was normal but the tibial central conduction (N22-to-P40) was delayed.
