Glycosylated LGALS3BP is highly secreted by bladder cancer cells and represents a novel urinary disease biomarker

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Urinary LGALS3BP is elevated in bladder cancer patients compared to healthy controls as detected by the 1959 antibody–based ELISA. The antibody shows enhanced reactivity to the high‐mannose glycosylated variant secreted by cancer cells treated with kifunensine (KIF).

Reactions of NaCl with Gaseous SO3, SO2, and O2 [PDF]

open access: yes
Hot corrosion of gas turbine engine components involves deposits of Na2SO4 which are produced by reactions between NaCl and oxides of sulfur. For the present investigation, NaCl single crystals were exposed at 100 to 850 C to gaseous mixtures of SO3, SO2,

Central serotonergic alterations in deoxycorticosterone acetate/NaCl (DOCA/NaCl)-induced hypertension

open access: yesNeuropharmacology, 1988
The present study investigated the metabolism of serotonin (5-HT) in rats made hypertensive by treatment with DOCA/NaCl. 5-Hydroxytryptamine and its major metabolite, 5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid (5-HIAA) were significantly elevated in a number of regions of the brain in rats treated for 2 weeks with DOCA/NaCl. Elevations in levels of 5-HIAA were present

Survivin and Aurora Kinase A control cell fate decisions during mitosis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aurora A interacts with survivin during mitosis and regulates its centromeric role. Loss of Aurora A activity mislocalises survivin, the CPC and BubR1, leading to disruption of the spindle checkpoint and triggering premature mitotic exit, which we refer to as ‘mitotic slippage’.

Cytoplasmic p21 promotes stemness of colon cancer cells via activation of the NFκB pathway

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytoplasmic p21 promotes colorectal cancer stem cell (CSC) features by destabilizing the NFκB–IκB complex, activating NFκB signaling, and upregulating BCL‐xL and COX2. In contrast to nuclear p21, cytoplasmic p21 enhances spheroid formation and stemness transcription factor CD133.

Impacts of sodium chloride reduction in tomato soup system using potassium chloride and amino acids

open access: yesCzech Journal of Food Sciences, 2019
Five different salt mixtures were prepared for the aim of lowering the sodium content of tomato soup and effects of using these mixtures on sensory, rheological, microbiological and physico-chemical properties of the final products were evaluated.

Class IIa HDACs forced degradation allows resensitization of oxaliplatin‐resistant FBXW7‐mutated colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
HDAC4 is degraded by the E3 ligase FBXW7. In colorectal cancer, FBXW7 mutations prevent HDAC4 degradation, leading to oxaliplatin resistance. Forced degradation of HDAC4 using a PROTAC compound restores drug sensitivity by resetting the super‐enhancer landscape, reprogramming the epigenetic state of FBXW7‐mutated cells to resemble oxaliplatin ...

Evaluation of opium poppy genotypes for tolerance to drought, salinity, and low temperatures during the germination stage

open access: yesKuwait Journal of Science
Seed germination is a crucial stage in determining the ability of seedlings to emerge and establish. However, it is mainly influenced by genetic factors and unfavorable environmental conditions such as drought, salinity, and low temperatures.
