NAD precursors cycle between host tissues and the gut microbiome
Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) is an essential redox cofactor in both mammals and microbes. Here we use isotope tracing to investigate the precursors supporting NAD synthesis in the gut microbiome.

Large river floods threaten intensively used urban areas across the world. Projections of IPCC expect such risks to increase in the future. To deal with flood risk along rivers water can be retained upstream at places where less damage is caused and more

5D Rotating Black Holes and the nAdS$_2$/nCFT$_1$ Correspondence [PDF]
We study rotating black holes in five dimensions using the nAdS$_2$/nCFT$_1$ correspondence. A consistent truncation of pure Einstein gravity (with a cosmological constant) in five dimensions to two dimensions gives a generalization of the Jackiw-Teitelboim theory that has two scalar fields: a dilaton and a squashing parameter that breaks spherical ...

Gravitational Anomalies in nAdS$_2$/nCFT$_1$ [PDF]
We revisit the holographic description of the near horizon geometry of the BTZ black hole in AdS$_3$ gravity, with a gravitational Chern-Simons term included. After a dimensional reduction of the three dimensional theory, we use the framework of nAdS$_2$/nCFT$_1$ to describe the near horizon physics.

MCART1/SLC25A51 is required for mitochondrial NAD transport
We demystify how mitochondria obtain NAD, revealing that MCART1/SCL25A51 is required for NAD transport into mitochondria. The nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+/NADH) pair is a cofactor in redox reactions and is particularly critical in mitochondria

Regulation of NAD Biosynthesis in Salmonella typhimurium: Expression of nad--lac Gene Fusions and Identification of a nad Regulatory Locus [PDF]
Regulation of NAD biosynthesis was examined through the construction of nad-lac fusions in Salmonella typhimurium. The nadA (17 unit map position) and nadB (55 units) genetic loci involved with quinolinic acid biosynthesis were both found to be regulated by the product of a nadR locus (99 units) in a repression/derepression manner while nadC (3 units ...

Deciphering NAD-Dependent Deacetylases [PDF]
Structural comparisons between other Sir2p family members, especially of the zinc binding and helical domains, should reveal further clues to the sources of substrate specificity. This first structure of Sir2-Af1 represents a road map to guide construction of hybrid proteins aimed at deciphering the function of different family members.

Answering two open problems on Banks theorem for non-autonomous dynamical systems [PDF]
This paper shows that (1) there exists a topologically transitive NADS having two disjoint invariant periodic orbits with dense periodic points, which is finitely generated but not periodic; (2) there exists a topologically transitive non-finitely generated NADS having two disjoint invariant periodic orbits with dense periodic point, which is not ...
