Antioxidant supplementation blunts the proteome response to 3 weeks of sprint interval training preferentially in human type 2 muscle fibres

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend Sprint interval training (SIT) is a popular time‐efficient type of endurance training. Healthy young men performed nine SIT sessions (4–6 × 30 s all‐out cycling sprints) over 3 weeks while being supplemented with antioxidants (high doses of vitamins C and E) or placebo. Muscle biopsies taken before and after the first SIT session

Reduction of Oxygen by NADH/NADH Dehydrogenase in the Presence of adriamycin

Free Radical Research Communications, 1986
Cardiac mitochondrial NADH dehydrogenase (Cytochrome c reductase, EC1.6.99.3) catalyses the reduction of ferricytochrome c to ferrocytochrome c by NADH. In the presence of the anthracycline anti-tumour drug, adriamycin, electron transfer from NADH is subverted to dioxygen.

Interaction of rhodanese with mitochondrial NADH dehydrogenase

BBA - Proteins and Proteomics, 1983
NADH dehydrogenase is an iron-sulfur flavoprotein which is isolated and purified from Complex I (mitochondrial NADH: ubiquinone oxidoreductase) by resolution with NaClO4. The activity of the enzyme (followed as NADH: 2-methylnaphthoquinone oxidoreductase) increases linearly with protein concentration (in the range between 0.2 and 1.0 mg/ml) and ...

A transmembranous NADH-dehydrogenase in human erythrocyte membranes

Journal of Bioenergetics and Biomembranes, 1984
Evidence is presented for a transmembranous NADH-dehydrogenase in human erythrocyte plasma membrane. We suggest that this enzyme is responsible for the ferricyanide reduction by intact cells. This NADH-dehydrogenase is distinctly different from the NADH-cytochrome b5 reductase on the cytoplasmic side of the membrane.

The consequence of an additional NADH dehydrogenase paralog on the growth of Gluconobacter oxydans DSM3504

open access: yesApplied Microbiology and Biotechnology, 2014
Acetic acid bacteria such as Gluconobacter oxydans are used in several biotechnological processes due to their ability to perform rapid incomplete regio- and stereo-selective oxidations of a great variety of carbohydrates, alcohols, and related compounds

Carvedilol Inhibits the Exogenous NADH Dehydrogenase in Rat Heart Mitochondria

open access: yesArchives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 2000
There are several reports on the oxidation of external NADH by an exogenous NADH dehydrogenase in the outer leaflet of the inner membrane of rat heart mitochondria. Until now, however, little was known about its physiological role in cellular metabolism.
