Amplifying Anti‐Tumor Immune Responses via Mitochondria‐Targeting Near‐Infrared Photodynamic Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Interfacial Nd3+‐triplet energy transfer enables direct activation of molecular triplets under near‐infrared (NIR) irradiation for reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation. Photodynamic therapy (PDT) exaggerates hypoxia, which initiates subsequent hypoxia‐activated chemotherapy.

The Critical Role of Enhanced OXPHOS and Mitochondrial Hyperpolarization in Simulated Microgravity‐Induced Oocyte Maturation Arrest

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Simulated microgravity induces distinct mitochondrial hyperactivation patterns‐elevated OXPHOS and MMP‐which accelerate meiosis without SAC failure but delays MTOC coalescence, leading to spindle defects and meiotic arrest. Prolonging M‐phase restores MTOC assembly and oocyte maturation.

Mortalin and PINK1/Parkin‐Mediated Mitophagy Represent Ovarian Cancer‐Selective Targets for Drug Development

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Ovarian cancer patients with high levels of mortalin protein in their tumors have worse survival. The investigational drug SHetA2 interferes with mortalin's support of mitochondria. The resulting mitochondrial damage causes a process called mitophagy that contributes to how SHetA2 kills cancer cells. Noncancerous cells repair their mitochondria through

Ballistic parameters and trauma potential of direct-acting, powder-actuated fastening tools (nail guns)

International Journal of Legal Medicine, 2012
Since their introduction in the 1950s in the construction and building trade, powder-actuated fastening tools (nail guns) are of forensic and traumatological importance. There are countless reports on both accidental and intentional injuries and fatalities caused by these tools in medical literature.

Threaded-nail Fasteners — Research and Standardization Needs

open access: closedTransactions of the ASAE, 1996
Threaded nail fasteners are commonly used in agricultural and commercial post-frame structures, yet there has been insufficient research to fully understand the effect of threads on withdrawal and lateral load resistance. The objective of this article is to review technical information on threaded nail fasteners and to identify problems facing ...
