Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

Structure of Classifier Boundaries: Case Study for a Naive Bayes Classifier

For a Bayes classifier whose input space is a graph, we study the structure of the boundary, which comprises those points for which at least one neighbor is classified differently. The scientific setting is assignment of DNA reads produced by next generations sequencers to candidate source genomes.

On Why Discretization Works for Naive-Bayes Classifiers [PDF]

We investigate why discretization can be effective in naive-Bayes learning. We prove a theorem that identifies particular conditions under which discretization will result in naive-Bayes classifiers delivering the same probability estimates as would be obtained if the correct probability density functions were employed.
