Nanopatterning titanium and PEEK for orthopaedic implants [PDF]
This project was inspired by research by Dalby and Gadegaard that demonstrated nanopatterning of poly-methyl-methacrylate (PMMA) surfaces can stimulate mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) to differentiate into osteoblasts and produce bone mineral in vitro ...

Nanopatterning on Reconstructed Ceramic Surfaces
The use of reconstructed ceramic surfaces as templates for nanopatterning has been demonstrated recently. This technique differs from the surface decoration by Au on stepped surfaces of alkali halides which has been a topic of intense research in the ...

Metasurface‐Based Polarization‐Controlled Generation of 128‐Dimensional Vector Vortex Combs
The generation and continuous control of 128‐dimensional vector vortex combs using a single metasurface is reported. This work creates a class of structured light that uniquely integrates ultrahigh dimensionality with vector properties, and represents a crucial step toward on‐chip, reconfigurable generators for ultrahigh‐dimensional vector structured ...

A two‐step approach based on broad‐beam ion irradiation is demonstrated to produce fine‐tuned self‐assembled surface patterns on MgO(001). It shows an efficient route to modifying the crystalline MgO(001) surface topography in a controlled way, making use of its very specific behavior in terms of both the pattern morphology and patterning dynamics.
